29 year-old female from Boston I first started watching Red vs Blue during Season 2 but didn't become a site member until Reconstruction. I spend most of my time in LFTO (Let's Figure it Out) and enjoy over-analyzing and theorizing with other obsessed fans.
I also create a bunch of stuff, including vlogs and a webcomic, so feel free to hang out and pretend to enjoy.
Well, yes. Because they are the same video. But I've been thinking a lot about my titling choices for that particular video. I named it "Hot Girl in the Shower (Talking About the Alphabet)", primarily because I found it amusing and it was parodying other videos that were parodying other videos that were... oh, you get the idea. I think we can end this little personal meme now.
Why this is relevant is because Hot Girl in the Shower now has over 800 views. I suspect, considering that only a week ago...

Why this is relevant is because Hot Girl in the Shower now has over 800 views. I suspect, considering that only a week ago it had slightly over 500 views, that it will be over a thousand in another couple of weeks.
Which is awesome. Totally awesome.
Except that I looked at the stats and 90 percent of people drop out in the first 20 seconds.
Oh, and also the primary audience for that video is men 55 and older.
And now I'm feeling a little creeped.
To be fair, it's not like I am completely naive of the world around me and didn't consider the consequences of naming the video as I did. I even say in the description, "What do you want to bet this attracts the wrong crowd?"
Certainly there's a marketing element in naming a video something salacious, because it pops more--but at the same time, if you only attract people who are looking for something other than what you have, you've failed as a marketer.
Honestly, I thought that the (Talking About the Alphabet) part of my video title demonstrated the obvious parody intended by my title choice and would keep the creepers at bay, but when I went to see where much of my audience was coming from, my video was in the "Related Links" sidebar of other shower videos with only the "Hot Girl in the Shower (Talking" section of my title showing. Maybe "Talking", there at the end, would lower the excitement generated by "Hot Girl in the Shower", but I could be talking about anything.
So, is my title a success or a failure?
I haven't decided yet. Videos with higher views rank higher in search results, and having one video with higher views may raise the rankings of my other videos. All of this could lead to more audience members actually interested in the types of videos I make.
