Where Next? Season 11 And MoreA kind fellow-member reminded me of an old, old post I made
here.
Let me qualify my answer as neither option really matches what I want. I want to go back to the Blood Gulch Chronicles characters with a minimum of regular others (i.e. Freelancers) and then have them go on further adventures that continue to develop the characters and their situation as we've seen in the Freelancer Cycle stories. So, not going back, rather going forwards but with the old characters.
I have to say that this remains my general preference for Season 11 but with one major change: You see, Wash has become the new Church and Carolina the new Tex. IMHO, Epsiode 22 confirmed that with Wash bawling out Caboos...

I have to say that this remains my general preference for Season 11 but with one major change: You see, Wash has become the new Church and Carolina the new Tex. IMHO, Epsiode 22 confirmed that with Wash bawling out Caboose and Tucker just like Church would have once done and Carolina adopting Tex's "travelling lone gun-slinger" style (as well as Dr. Church essentially saying she is the closest thing to a recreation of Allison that he would likely see in this life). So, in my opinion at least, Wash and Carolina are now Blues and part of the team, replacing Church and Tex. So, they should stick around and be part of the fun to come.
What fun? Anyone who reads my journals will have seen that I've long wanted the Freelancer Saga to be followed up by a saga I call "The Covenant Prophecies". I want the Prophecy of the Great Destroyer to turn out to be based on a real Sangheili prophecy. The existence of the cultists who worked with Pill Guy (Fake CT) in Recreation is evidence in that direction. Maybe Junior can visit his old daddy and ask for some help to put "The Chosen One" on his throne. Along the ways, the guys start encountering more of the dark deeds of the Insurrectionis
ts and learn what all this stolen alien tech they've been collecting has been used for. It rapidly becomes clear that they are the only thing standing against the fulfilment of prophecy's warning of death for a large portion of the galaxy's population. Ironically, it is the humans, not an alien warrior, who are the Great Destroyer (blue being Earth's most distinctive colour) and it is up to humans... these
specific humans... to save the day.
I think it can be done without sacrificing the essential atmosphere of Red vs Blue. Episode 21 shows they can do action scenes without ruining the characters. Pretty much of all of the Recollections Trilogy as well as Seasons 9 and 10 shows they can do comedy without sacrificing plot and character development. To me, it is the natural next step.
Just an additional idea: Here's a vote for bringing back Lopez as the Reds' in-house AI to balance out Church/Epsilon
