Inside...I'm HurtingI've been through serious injuries before, but none as many as this recent time. Nearly torn Achilles tendon, a separated shoulder (typing with one hand at the moment), six broken ribs, heavily bruised back, and mild trauma to the head as the doctor told me. How it happened basically went like this...I was hiking amongst one of the smaller mountain ranges in Vancouver where they are less steep but still a challenge. I was with a group of friends who also brought along their dog. About 2 hours into the hike, we stopped for a break near a lake where there was a small cliff that had a 10ft drop if anyone went over. While talking with my friends, I noticed the dog was chasing anything that moved, be it birds or squirrels and I didn't think too much of it. Twenty minutes into our chat, I remember walking to get another bottle of water when I heard one of my companions yell out "Hunter!" (the dog). I look over and saw that the dog had too much of a throttle going on chasing a squirrel or something similar to that and was about to go over the cliff. I was the closest one to the dog and ran like hell getting to him...I managed to catch him but I realized a little late I was going too fast because I couldn't stop at all due to a rock slipping under me. From there it's kind of hard to remember what happened. I held on to the dog and did what I could to lessen the impact on both of us, that much I could tell. I do remember stopping suddenly because I slammed side first into a tree, thus the broken ribs. This happened 2 days ago...and I woke up about 11 hours ago. The doctor told me at best it'd take four months for me to heal completely and on a relieved note told me the dog was fine albeit with two broken legs and slightly fractured neck. I'm not sure how I injured my achilles tendon though, I think it's maybe because my legs were in front of me when I fell down the cliff. In any case, despite the pain...I'm still alive and whether or not I'm allowed, I'll make sure I don't miss anything on Rooster Teeth. (My friends are strong RT fans so I'm covered). I'll let all of you know when I'm 100% again.
