Bye Bye E3New Update. So E3 is going to be scaled down for 07 and everyone has an opinion about it so i might as well speak my mind as well. I do see changes for the better mostly and just a few things that might be detriments. First of all i care about the info that the press conferences give to us hardcore gamers and the onslaught of pics and movies of upcoming games and hardware that we haven't seen before. What Xbox Live did this past E3 with 720p movies and exclusive demos like Lost Planet got us closer to E3 than ever and i hope that will continue next year even thought the specticle is gone on the actual show floor. (I would have loved to see more closed door coverage of Gears of War multiplayer though). This is going to be good for developers since the show won't be getting completely in the way of their development schedules. May is a tough time so we will see how July works out for them. Game i think would have benefited from the new E3 if it was in the new format this year would have been Too Human. Huge hype yet still unpolished visuals and choppy framerate since it is still a work in progress yet everyone then says the game will suck and was horrible and now it gets lots of bad press. Whent he final retail copy of that game is in my 360 that is when the Silicon Knights is either lamented or praised for their work. Finally since E3 was really a press only even i hope the smaller show lets the gaming press like IGN, GameSpot, EGM Mag and Official Xbox Mag get closer to games than just 5 minute play tests and that we the gamers get more of what E3 should be about; that years big news stories, pictures, and never before seen video. Plus being in July should break up the summer slump for the games industry. Only time will tell but if it helps publishers save money to invest in the actual game itself and their staff then the games can only get better. Thus better games makes a much happier EclipsE.
