Back in the day when nintendo used to rule the industry all the games were mostly cute and friendly. Mature videogames did not exist. With the release of MOrtal Kombat, it made parents mad. Conkers Bad Fur Day is antoher example and now lots of videogames are becoming more mature. Grand Theft Auto and others pissed off more parents and game developers still go to the next level. May I say God of War. I'm suprised ESRB didnt give them an AO but theyll probably never release AO games in Stores(maybe in Japan). Games are heading in the right direction and people know now that games are not just for kids. I proved my point.

Right On!! Games like Hitman 3 & ManHunt got a look under the microscope in Australia and i think Manhunt got baned. They said they were to violent. But anyone that isn't prepared for that stuff wouldn't play it anyway. it's pointless to ban games anyway, seeing as there are easier ways to get games now, other than off the shelves.

Really? I would have never guessed that. With the big boys like Doom 3, Halo 2, GTA, Half-life 2, I would have guessed they would make up a far larger percentage.

Actually I have seen games at Gamestop with an AO rating, it is really rare though. God of War only had some minor nudity and lots of violence as I recall, which actually cannot warrant an AO rating, basically there has to be explicit sex acts in order to get that rating.

In Japan it is actually a pretty big industry for the equivalent of AO rated games, well at least an industry in its own right. I can't really say much about it though, it isn't exactly something I'm an expert in.

M games don't hold as much of the market as most people think, while quite a few big games are in that category, all the other ratings have a much larger pool of games, so even if they don't sell as many copies, they still make up a larger percentage of the market.

Because obviously violence and nudity makes a good game.

i hate how all those gay people get involved in lawsuites (sp?) over usually GTA games, but other M games too. just keep it plain and simple. if you dont want yourself/your kids to play it or you dont like it for some unknown reason, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DONT BUY THE GAME! dont file a lawsuit because YOU dont like the game. you wasted your money on it, and thats your own stupid fault. i get so pissed when i see stupid people on the news over issues like that. its just so fucking RETARDED

You see there? That just makes people want to not like you with their points even more. I think that God of War was awesome, but could have still been as good a game without the random nudity. However guys are horny at all times and I think this is how most of them played God of War.

Honk. ...You know you would. ...or did.

guys, im not saying that games are good because they have violence and nudity, im saying that games are growing up and not just for kids (even though they never where) and if the impressionalble minds play them its the parents fault or the person selling an M rated game to a teen. People cant blame the developers. I love Medal of Honor: Frontline and its a great game because it touched the hearts of gamers with a real reanaction of D-Day and the game play is good. Same with Call of Duty. What im just trying to say is that games are becoming more mature.

It isn't that realistic, it is "Saving Private Ryan" realistic, where it seems more realistic than it actually is. The Omaha landing especially was in reality a botched operation, which due to a lot of ineptitude cost many more people their lives then it should have, but it is "un-American" to point stuff like that out. War games are not realistic though, 99% of the time would be mindless tedium and doing the same mundane, neccessary but unexciting tasks and the other 1% would be trying to shoot the enemy without getting shot, not running around gunning down dozens of Nazis like you would in pretty much any war game.

Name one military operation that DIDN'T cost more lives than it should have. Any time a life is lost it is too many.

It is with the respect that half of the men that landed died. Some didn't even make it off the BOAT.

That's why it's a military action, and not a civilian action.

Because despite the advice of the French resistance, the Americans did not bombard the machine gun positions prior to the landing. They had the coordinates prior to the invasion, and the Normandy beaches were not that heavily guarded because the Germans thought those attacks were a decoy assault. The French were actually very vehement about those implacements being destroyed before the landing, but they were ignored and the superior fire power and position did result in far more casualties then should have been sustained.

You're 14 years old and saying games are going in the right direction because they're getting bloodier and raunchier.

You should've titled this thread "Mature-rated Games for Immature Gamers". Because if you think the addition of blood makes a game good, then obviously you're immature because a mature gamer doesn't care if they look cool playing something, as long as they're having fun.

Ah, and here's the part where you contradict yourself. You start off by saying games are going in the right direction because they're going in the "mature" direction... I need to put the word "mature" in parentheses to show I'm referring to the ESRB rating system, not the actual content within the game... but here you say that they're not good because of violence and nudity...

Pick a side.
