To see your thread updates click the notification icon in the top right corner of the page next to your profile name. Your notifications should drop down like they do in facebook
Note: DO NOT click the link to clear all alerts at the bottom of the notification drop down until you're caught up on all the threads. It won't just clear them from the drop-down: it will also clear them from the top of the forum.
UGH, this is atrocious. I actually rather enjoyed the up-until-now change that was made to thread update viewing, but this...oh well, it's just the internets...
Apparently I added a new musical artist while updating my interests in my profile. Her name is Sade and I uploaded a photo but wanted to establish a default image for the interest page. Is there a way I can do that or is there some sort of vetting process by mods in order to do it?
Thanks Mike, but what do I do if I come across another musical artist or book that hasn't established a default picture by any chance? Do I post in a particular place, contact a moderator, or something else? Don't worry, I'm not going to spam the site with fake artists or things like that and demand images for them.
Thanks again Mike. I guess I'll come to you in that case since this is the first time I've had any form of interaction to a mod.In reply to Mike, #32527:
Now, I'm pretty sure that this is just me being dumb, but I can't find help for this anywhere, and I'm stumped. How do I post an image from my hard drive in a journal? I'm trying to write a journal, but when I put the link to the image between the two image tabs, and then preview the journal, nothing appears. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, and I'm sure someone has asked this question before, but I can't find any help in previous posts. could someone help me out? Thanks so much!
You can't link to images stored on your computer from the internet. You need to host them online first.
1.) Upload the picture to a free hosting site, like tinypic.com/ 2.) Copy the link to the picture--it will be called something like a "direct link" or "link for use in layouts" 3.) Paste the link into your journal 4.) Highlight the link in your journal and click the img button, which will put image tags around the URL, creating a link to where the picture is hosted
Yep! Managed to post the journal with no trouble, now. It's the first time I'm posting a "legitimate" journal, so I wanted to do things correctly, and not make a fool out of myself. Thanks again for the help.
Well, I'm assuming you need to post pictures the same way one would post pictures to a journal, so what you want to do is click the "img" button above the area you're typing in. click it twice, and you should end up with a little bit of text that looks like this: {img}{/img} (substitute the "{"s for "[" obviously, like it gives you.) Then, copy whatever the URL of the picture is, (you have to upload it to an image hosting site like www.tinypic.com first) and paste it in between the two {img} thingies, and voila! It's important that the {img} thing with the backslash in front is the second one, by the way.
In reply to yelnocp, #32543: And the same goes for links, [link=http://redvsblue.com]textity text[/link] becomes textity text
and to all answering questions, you can show folks this stuff easier by breaking up the code with.. more code. Just insert an open/close somewhere between the first brackets: [li[b][/b]nk=http://redvsblue.com]textity text[/link]
