There's really no good source for that yet. We'll just have to wait out this horrible waiting time.

I have a friend that moved to Japan to teach english who, although not having a great understanding of Japanese, watched 3.0.

Infinite jelly.

Sadly missed out on the original series... but lack of interesting titles this season made me go through the trouble of getting the first two movies. I lack the back story and have no desire to wiki it until after the final movie, whenever that will be. Good stuff! though the high budget animation is going to ruin all anime series for me...

Just wondering, how do the movies compare to the original series? And so far, which appears to be better?

In reply to koko, #27073:

IMO the Rebuilds are much more focused on the general themes of the series that develop as the original show went on. The anime originally had a few basic ideas and motifs that carried on throughout its run, but the things that it became known for didn't become fully solidified until the second half of the series and in the End of Evangelion movie. The Rebuilds focus themselves on intertwining these themes better with the early parts of the series.

Would you suggest going through the trouble of tracking down the original series and watching it? Or would the movies suffice given what is shown so far and the rate the movies are progressing at?

If Google is difficult for you, Evangelion might not be your bowl of soup.

The movie and the show almost completely diverge from each other. You should watch both.

Watch the show. It's 26 Episodes and a film, but it is really worth it. Just to see the differences alone.

An official non-camrip?

Maybe the end of the year. That will be subbed however.

So, just viewed 3.0.

That was pretty intense, Can't await for the official release so I can make sense of the battle scenes. I found parts of it on par with End of Eva in terms of sheer brutality.
