People think twice when they know there's a high probability of getting owned. If I was a burglar and I knew there was a 100% chance the home I was going to break into had a firearm, I'm not dumb enough to take that chance.
so, trying to find a m&p shield is like looking for a unicorn. i have a chance to pick up a walther pps for about 425, do i take it? very similar ccw's (slim, single stack, 9mm)...
i played with one at cabelas, it felt fine to me, and with the 7+1rnd extended mag, the grip length is good for my hand. i think i may snag it, worst case scenario, i dont like it, i should be able to sell it...or i keep it until i can find me an m&p shield to replace it with.
possibly, it all depends on your frame and what you're willing to carry i guess. i know ppl who carry around 1911's. i for once can't do that, that would print pretty obviously through my shirts. my shooting buddy got the new xd-s, which is a pretty awesome .45 in a small package. packs a punch. it took me awhile to get comfortable with it since im a shooting noob (i did ok with it, but not great), but for experienced shooters, its awesome.
i just want something that's very concealable but also 9mm, so i've been looking at the shield, ppq, m&p 9c...i've shot a kahr pm9, wasn't a fan. in addition, 9mm is a helluva lot cheaper than .45 ammo. i go through 100-200rnd at the range every other week (sometimes every week if im bored), and that's a good chunk of change. shooting some 9mm will cut some of that cost haha.
9mm is fantastic for high rate of fire and lots of shots on-target. If you know what you're doing, you can put a lot of high-capacity mags into something in a fairly short period of time.
I think there is a reason that Sig doesn't advertise their P2022. It was their first attempt and an "attempt" it was. I'm still not sold on the P250 yet. the idea of a "lego" gun just doesn't sound dependable to me...
Picked up a M&P9c on monday, just got back from the range today. Put about 175 rounds through it.
Had a failure to... lock up all the way, go into battery, help me out if there's a better term for it. I didn't see what it did exactly, AwesomeWife had it when it did it. Just know that the slide was mostly forward, but the extractor didn't grab the rim. That was about 2 magazines in. Cleared it, field strip and a bit of clp, good to go.
Also, for about the first 6-8 mags, brass was ejecting almost straight back, bouncing off of forheads and eyepro, plus one got under AW's glasses, she now has a neat little burn. (note, look into prescription eyepro) Figure the extractor just had to get broke in a bit(if that's a thing?), after that, the gun ran great.
Fired off 2 magazines each of from my 40c, the 9c, and the p22, just for s&g's, the differences in recoil make me giggle a little. M9 range days as a lane safety with people that don't shoot at all on their own make me laugh too.
Really wish the Army'd pull it's head out of it's ass and encourage more after hours marksmanship programs. Might save a buck or two when Pog's that never get to run their assigned weapon improved on their own dime for fun, rather than sitting on the qual line, shitting on 40 rounds at a time. Pipe dream, I know.
