I did a search, and found to my surprise that no one is talking about this fantastic show on AMC. Now, usually AMC isn't the place to be for new original programming, but after their success with Mad Men, it quickly paved the way for Breaking Bad - a show that I quickly fell in love with! It's seriously one of my top favorite shows right now, and only 3 episodes have aired so far. I've never taken to a show so quickly, which is one reason why I can't stop talking about it. I feel that not enough people know of this show, so I do what I can to turn people on to this show. I've already done that with two of my friends, and my mom.
The storyline goes a little something like this: A law-abiding chemistry teacher Walter White (Played by Bryan Cranston, who played Hal in Malcom in the Middle) discovers he has terminal lung cancer. Upon learning the news, he "loses it" and gets an idea thanks to his D.E.A. agent brother-in-law: to enlist the services of one of his former students to help him set up a mobile meth lab and cook crystal meth, to help him leave money for his pregnant wife, and son who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. If only Walter knew what he was getting himself into...
I love this show for many reasons: It's mainly a drama, but has a very nice touch of dark comedy. The characters are well portrayed thanks to the fantastic acting, especially by Cranston. The writing is awesome, the direction is great. This show does a good job of creating these very tense and chilling moments, but not afraid of lightening the mood a little bit with some comedic lines and situations. (One such disturbingly funny scenes comes in at the end of Episode 2, and one certain scene towards the end of Episode 3 is one of the most intense scenes I have ever seen on a TV show in a long time.)
New episodes premiere on the AMC channel every Sunday night at 10PM PST, but AMC re-runs the old episodes rather frequently. As mentioned earlier, there are only 3 episodes that are released (7 or 8 were completed before the writers strike), and the first two episodes can be streamed legally at AMC's official site, which can be found below:
(Apparently, the videos only work for those in the United States.)
After it loads, click on the "Featured Video" tab, and the first two episodes are right at the top of the list. They also have some funny behind-the-scenes videos, documentaries/interviews, episode previews, etc. I'm not sure if/when Episode 3 will be on the site. All I can say is to keep an eye out for it. It may show up.
Hopefully we can get more people talking about this show. I feel it's underrated, and should get the attention that it deserves, but it seems that more and more people are getting into it.
Yeah, Episode 4 premiers Sunday night at 10 (for me). Still, i'm not sure if Ep 3 will make it on the site, but if it does, it may be shortly after Ep 4 airs.
I saw the previews for this and really wanted to watch it...but you know how it goes, just never got around to it. I will definetly get to watching them soon though.
Just a notice: They aren't going to be able to put any more full episodes online, but according to the guy who is involved with the site linked in the first post, episodes are available "On Demand" for many cable suppliers, possibly for free. So, give those a look if you can. New episode tonight! I can't wait!
i've been watching since it premiered, i couldn't get into Mad Men but this show rocks. def. is only thing i'm gonna be watching til the shows start returning now the strike is over.
I love this show. Cranston really stepped out into a real character here and is showing what a great actor he really is. I can't wait to see the season finale this next Sunday night. Should be a real good one!
Yeah tell me about it. Aaron Paul also stepped up to the plate, acting wise, if I may say so myself. First last week, with his attempt at getting a job, and now this week when she shows sympathy for Walter. Its more than expected from someone typed casted as a typical druggie.
From what I hear at IMDB forums, the show has already been picked up for a second season of 13 episodes, although there is some debate over the validity of such rumors. Anyone have any solid information?
Oh yeah. Your fast at replying. I find it easier calling him names though. We're getting off-topic though so lets continue this conversation in our profiles or end it.
Gonna give this thread ye olde bump to talk about a couple things about this show (which I still love with all my everything).
Firstly, a big congrats on Bryan Cranston for his emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Walter White in this show. He beat out some pretty stiff competition from more well-known TV shows, and his win will hopefully bring in some buzz to the show. So that's pretty cool that he won.
Second, a 12-13 episode second season is indeed slated to begin airing in AMC this March. I serioiusly cannot wait for it to begin. Over on IMDb, some people who worked on the show keep dropping hints as to how great season 2 will be. So I can't wait because season 1 was just fantastic.
Finally - TVShowsOnDVD.com also list the Breaking Bad Season 1 DVD set to be released late February. So those who aren't up to speed with this show, you can pick that up when it comes out.
Oh, i'm definitely excited. Even my mom, who I got hooked on the show is excited, but she works, so she is usually asleep when it comes on.
Old VHS machine... looks like you've once again found a purpose.
Now, here's a thought - If I were to make a Breaking Bad group, just for shits n' giggles. Who would join? It doesn't currently exist, so I think i'll just do it anyway.
Well i'm excited! Especially after seeing episodes 1 and 2 of this new season. (And episode 3, but that doesn't air until this upcoming Sunday, so I won't talk about it.) But as far as episodes 1 and 2 are concerned, i'm really excited about how this season is going to play out. I can only speculate like everyone else, but I have posted a theory or two in the user group, which you can see by clicking the link in my post above ^^.
