The gate is opened and each row advances and leaps across the ditch and out of the camp.*

Clan of the Setting Summer Sun - Granite Century *The Century comes into a clear piece of ground on the edge of the Encampment.* *The Century assumes battle position. Three Sword Decades on the front line of attack. The two Javelin decades on the second line close to the edge to provide flanking and the Sling Decade and the Bola Decade slightly beyond the Javelin decades but further back.* *The first row of the Sword decades take out their swords and strike their insta-crete shields with the flats of the titanium blades, making a horrific noise.*

*The Robotic Creatures come out of various buildings and hidden crevices and make for the noise to defend their territory per their programming.* *A few robots initially arrive but hold their position while others join them and a mass of approximately 20 to 25 form up in a group.* *Centurion Fast Paw shouts out the command,* Advance! *Which is repeated by each decanus.* *As a unit, with well practiced precision, the Mutant Bear Century advances on the mechanical creatures.*

*The advancing threat of the Mutant Bears appears to bewilder the robotic force. They stall, cluster and group together without coming into any sense of order.*
Clan of the Setting Summer Sun - Granite Century *The Mutant Bears continue their advance and close the distance.* *The Engineers and the Mystics move up behind the Sword decades and long poles are thrust forward with the end held by the Mutant Bears on the second row of the Sword decades.* *Finally, the Swords' First row contact the mechanical creatures with a massive impact. Claws strike out at shields and the beam weapons hit the insta-crete shields with the material growing hotter.*

Clan of the Setting Summer Sun - Granite Century *A whistle blows.* *The First Row shifts and the Second Row advances to take their place as the First Row moves between the ranks to the rear area. A few screams and shouts are heard from third and fourth row Mutant Bears who come in contact with the super heated shields.* The Second Row, now the First, strike the end of the poles against their shields, giving a spark and fire blossoms from the end of the pole. A shout and the ends are thrust into the grills of the mechanical creatures with the direction of the now first row then a second shout is heard.* *An Engineer or a Mystic at the opposite end of the pole takes a mighty inward breath and then blows hard on the bamboo pole.* *The sludge content of pole is expelled outward and into the grills of the mechanized enemies. Once empty, the poles are taken back and tossed behind.* *Bags of wet mud are passed forward and a break of the first row at each effected machine occurs and the mud is hurled and hits the grill, trapping the burning slurry inside.*
Six of the robots are clearly in trouble. Unable to purge the burning fluid, their internal circuits and wiring begin to burn and scramble their systems. Two of the robots attack their fellows and three simple stop dead and start to smolder. The final robot stops and explodes. The concussion knocks down one robot and four Mutant Bears and the robots in the immediate vicinity take advantage. Three are cut apart with the beam weapons as they lay on the ground and the fourth is gouged deeply with a claw before his fellows advance and push back the undamaged robot.
*In the resulting confusion, both Javelin decades swing out to flank the mechanical creatures and hurl their weapons into the various gears and treads of the creatures. The Slingers launch fired clay pots that strike the mechanical creatures "heads" and explode then catch fire.*
Clan of the Setting Summer Sun - Granite Century *The Century advances but even with the combined force of the first row, they are unable to shift the fallen or stalled mechanical creatures.* *Centurion Fast Paw recognizes the problem and calls for a back step to allow a clearing of the killing field. Moving back ten long paces, the Century stops and the surviving robots again advance into the pocket.* *Mutant Bears with Bolas dart out from the flanks and hurl their weapons at the projected stalks, snaring and snapping several from the robots. The robots appear undeterred and continue their advance.* *A whistle blows and the third row advances to take the second row/now first row's place while the former first row with fresh shields take up position behind their fellows.* *At the flank of a Javelin decade, a three bear team moves a scorpion out and fires a bolt directly into the large container at the side of the mechanical creature. A black, viscous fluid oozes out. One of the mechanical creatures scores a direct hit on an Engineer and he goes down with part of his head blown away. The survivors get their weapon back behind the protection of the Javelin decade.* *Javelins again fly and more of the tanks are hit but only a few are penetrated.* *Slingers continue their work and more mechanical creatures are struck and set afire.* *The effective force is now reduced to slightly less than half* *The Bola Decade, knowing that their primary weapon appears useless against the mechanical creatures, for a Turtle and move out to strike the injured creatures from the rear with shield and sword.*
