Updated Version

I fixed the wallhops and removed the lights. Also smoothed out the ceiling and pushed in letters that were sticking out too far. There are still some bumps with the letters, but it's impossible to stand on them.
Getting better.

Some of the letters are missing pieces.

Check the soft kill. Most maps need the soft-kill to be set to 22.5 x 18.5 to avoid losing the bomb in the corners above the wall-hop.

The spawns are under the Grid. To fix this you do not have to move the Grid since it seems to be well placed. Set it to spawn at 180 seconds, Spawn at start=False, then start a new round. While the Grid is waiting to spawn, raise all of the spawns by 1 unit. You may have to start new rounds to get them all. Once the spawns are all raised wait for the Grid to spawn. Set each spawn back down by 1 unit so they are not floating, then set the Grid to Spawn at start = True.

Thanks for being patient with me--as you can probably tell, I'm a bit unfamiliar with Grifball court forging.

Do I need to download an approved version of the court, or do we just use the version I uploaded?

I only do that with "problem" builders now. People can see which maps are legit by matching dates with the links in this thread. I also keep a copy of most home courts for at least a season in case there are any map related disputes.

Use the version linked above. If you make any changes it needs to be approved again.

Just to be 100% sure:

If im in the amateur league for Summer '11 can I use a map made by me for home games?

the map must be submitted and approved by Nokyard. It must maintain all specs required for an AGLA court and if you want to play on it you must get the permission from the opposing team captain to use it to play after it has passed all requirements for League usage.

I still think the floor needs to be simplified to avoid visual clutter. I didn't notice any frame rate issues so it can stay, but if other teams complain we may need to readdress the issue.

Corrections:
Set rotation snap to 90 degrees before making changes.

Drop all spawns, bomb plant, bomb pickup by 1 unit so they sit on the grid floor.

Remove the existing soft-safe zone.

Spawn a soft-safe zone
height=29.8
Z (Roll) = 90.0
radius = 3
top = 15.5
bottom = 15.5

Spawn a soft-safe zone
height=29.0
shape = box
width = 30.5
top = 1.4
bottom = 3.3
length = 30.5

Spawn a soft-safe zone
height= 31.0
shape = box
width = 29.5
top = 100.9
bottom = 3.0
length = 29.5

Rounded corners are not usually allowed but yours are small enough to allow them. Add a soft-kill zone to the back side of the corners at a 45 degree angle, from the grid to the top of the corner piece, as there is a safe area outside of the map in the corners (highlight the 3rd safe zone to see what i mean). Also, add a soft kill to the top of the corner pieces.

SFF Home Court
The corrections are too extensive to list here since you have changed several items from the original template. Please MSG me on XBL and i will help you fix this map. The map is not too bad but some of the fixes are too complicated to describe here. It is way easier to show you in forge. Remove the Mongoose!

Remove GBSML11 from the name so you can use it next season.

Remove the starting spawns, add oddball spawns as per the AA Template. Spawns should be set to fixed, and rotation snap set to 90 degrees when placing. Always use the coordinate system when placing game-play items (actually, the entire map should be built this way)

Add 2x2 flat pieces to the bottom of the corner bunkers to keep players out

You can stand on the lights. Your choice, you can move, remove, or add small kill zones around them. If you add kill zones be aware that if a launched runner hits the light the bomb will unfairly reset

The measurements are WAY off from the template. For instance the bomb pickup is not in the center of the map, and the bomb plants are to far from the back wall. I suggest setting the grid to Phased X=88.0 Y=166.0 Z=14.0 and adjusting the entire map (including walls) using the AA Template as a measurement reference.

Love the name!

Corrections:
Set rotation snap to 90 degrees before making changes.

Drop all spawns by 1 unit so they sit on the grid floor

Push the letters slightly back into the wall so you can't stand on them

Raise the wall-hop by one unit (26.3) on the blue side

2 wall pieces on red side stick out

fix z-fighting on the stunt ramps. The grid is fine but the stunt ramps need to be lowered slightly. You can do this manually by turning off the rotation snap

You can stand on the lights and antenna so they need to deleted or moved out of the safe zone. I can't make recommendations on the safe zones as your ceiling is extremely complex. I will have to see what you do with the lights and antenna before proceeding. Keep in mind that you need headroom for safe launches

Download the template, and find out the exact measurements of the court and all the safe zones etc and edit your map accordingly.

Work out exactly how far each object is from the center of the map, then work out where it should be to be exactly the same from the center of your map.

I can do that for you

To answer your question, the template is set to the exact center of forgeworld so the center measurement is X=0 Y=0. When you make a map the first thing you do is decide where the center is and build the map around it.

just to clarify, even though i used the original template, the spawns and bomb plant need to be adjusted for... functionality.

as always, thanks for the review, I'll be sure to post the updated map.

I will finish fixing the map and get it to you tomorrow.

In reply to iamblamb, #777:

Yes, there are 2 items on the template which may or may not be accurate depending on which way you build your map.

The spawns are set slightly high to accommodate solid floors, and for Grids which are manually lowered into position, to prevent the spawns from being lost in the floor.

The main soft-safe zone is designed for 5x5 Flats and Brace Large walls, but needs to be adjusted when using Coliseum Walls and Windows.

Both items are then adjusted to suit the individual map during the approval process. Before (when i had plenty of file share slots available) i would adjust these myself without mentioning it but, with so many maps submitted, i just get the builders to do it themselves.
