Just touching the topic of waiting and tips again. My sister is working in a pub in Canada, normally behind the bar, but if she has to wait a table she is expected to tip the person who replaces her behind the bar and the kitchen staff who prepare the food. So if the customers leave a small tip, or no tip, she is still expected to tip everyone else, out of her own pocket. She said this has actually happened to her a few times, when she received a 25¢ or 50¢ tip.
