From Warren Spector, designer of the hit games Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War comes
The antagonists of Epic Mickey are the largely unknown Disney elements, including theme park rides and older cartoons. Having been forgotten, they are now trapped in a "forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities." Running this world is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Disney's first creations, who has become jealous of Mickey Mouse and is seeking revenge. Oswald sends the Phantom Blot to the Disney universe, and it soon covers the world with black ink, causing the colors to run. Using a variety of artist tools, Mickey must return the Disney world to its former glory.
Also,
Mickey will be receiving a character redesign in this game, which will attempt to give him a "retro" look.
It's on the cover in the November 2009 Issue of Game Informer. OMG the game looks badass. You'll have to read it to find out more but wow it's gonna be a buy day 1 for me.
The first Wii game I'm actually excited for. I sort of wanted Brawl, but nothing else on the Wii has sparked my interest. This looks to be the best title for the Wii.
So my understanding of what I saw on the Nintendo Channel on my Wii is that the premise has hanged slightly from the original idea. Oswald was supposed to be the original main enemy of the game fro what I understood. Now he's an ally?
Mickey releases the Ink Blot into a world that he is merely visiting. Mickey gets scared and runs bac to his world. He feels guilty and returns and discovers the whole world has been re-imaged by the ink blot. And so he teams up with a variety of Disney character both known and long forgotten to bring peace back to this alternate world.
I wish that there would be a song of the south tale. Specifically Brer Rabbit, which is the story that is told on the Splash Mountain ride at the park, the movie has not been released due to how controversial it is.
It's all about a black man on a plantation, surrounded with wonderful music and great animation. Including a great Disney hit song that a lot don't know where it stems from entitled "Zippidy Doo Dah."
This game is soooo fun, I love it not just for the great story and interesting game play, but it looks beautiful. I also enjoy seeing characters im familiar with and the game play similar to fable (good and evil choices). The replay value is also really cool. I haven't had the chance to beat it, but when I do I'm def gonna play again and make some different choices.
I actually really liked this game, (1 of 2 Disney games I greatly enjoyed. The other being Haunted Mansion on Gamecube) it was cool that it was basically in Disneyland. Tron battle on top of space mountain would have to be one of my favorite parts in the game.
Screenshots for the sequel were leaked not to long ago.
