So, USA has a new show entitled "White Collar" starring Matt Bomer (you might recognize him as the enigmatic Bryce Larkin from "Chuck") as an exceptional high class thief who finds himself working with the FBI agent who caught him in order to work off a 4 year prison sentence.

USA is all about characters and "White Collar" has these in spades, not to mention a quirky style full of witty banter and some solid humor.

If you missed it, check out the pilot via Hulu

So, did anyone else catch the pilot? What did you think?

I quite enjoyed the pilot. Wondering exactly what he's doing for that rich lady that she seems to have given him complete run of her house.

All I have to say is.. Badger, fricken Badger!! (or for just BSG fans, Fricken Romo Lampkin!!) Great episode! It is nice to see Bryce get his own show.. Wasn't really a pivotal character in "Chuck". Woot!

The pilot was very engaging and confirmed what I had suspected about this show, it's a witty high class crime/detective show. I was reminded a bit about the Oceans movies with some of the music and some of the banter. Although I am saddened that Psych is not on, this is an acceptable alternative.

I do like USA shows, they are often fun and entertaining, a refreshing change from where a lot of the stations are going towards right now.

And Matt looks very tasty in those suits I must say....

so...everyone's probably wondering what's up with the ring-wearing fellow in that picture. Is he romantic competition or is the love interest in terrible danger?

My guess is that he's a former partner or a powerful con victim.

I think he definitely is a blast from the past for our fair haired hero. But is he mentor or competition?

My guess is that he's a former boss of some type. While Matt's character is the best thief, etc, his comments about the apartment and bottle make it seem as if he wasn't living the high life by any means. Or that, like his situation with the lady, it's nothing permanent.

So cons like that usually get involved with a larger criminal element, maybe that's how he met his girlfriend, she worked for the guy?

While a "power con victim" is probably as likely they conn'd the guy to get away, I think this is going to be a bit more than a simple revenge case. There is going to have to be a good twist, like maybe that was her father or something?

Well, since all we know is he is a guy who wears a ring, and that was what started the conversation, I'm gonna say no, I don't think anyone can be more specific. That's sort of the basis for this discussion. Sorry.

The picture of Neal's girlfriend, there is a hand on her shoulder... and he says "He's found her..." and not in a good tone. We're trying to figure out who he is and what's his relation to them...

I was actually re-watching the pilot just after seeing "Wormhole X-Treme!" and I did a double-take when I realized it was Marty.

Actual real-time texted conversation between me and a friend, we both had the newest episode on DVR so could start it and run through the ads.

Warning, spoilers, and lots of honest opinions. I hope you find it as hillarious as I did at the time!

Her: Alright, let's start.
Me: Rolling!
Her: He's hot. Already love the outfit.
Me: I know! And such a gentleman. LOL so cute!
Me: She killed th guy! LOL just a thought
Her: His vest has lapels, I'm so distracted
Me: ROLF, who cares about plot when neal dressed like that!
Me: LOL! Seizure warehouse!! Love it!
Her:I dont' even know what the crime is yet. Is the ghost guy who killed the guy the girl was talking about?
Me: Yeah... but probably more to it and that
Her: Yeah, just trying to follow along. He changed outfits!
Me: Oh, love the casual jacket unbuttoned top...
Her: Party time. Too early to solve the case tho
Me: Yeah, of course, oh charmer!
Her: Well, that was lame.
Me: Yeah, totally. I mean, I know they not to succeed but oh well, he took the jacket off. Hey, plot point!
Her: His little friend is crazy haha
Me: That's marty from sg1, totally awesome in a geeky way, wait, I think I missed another plot point, oh well
Her: I like the watch
Me: She's so good to him... oh, pinstripes!!
Her: Lol they're a good team, and amusing. Would the model girl really know anything?
Me: lol, like old married couple. I see what you meant how the agent reminds you of gary sinese. And maybe, dunno, just makeing shit up.
Her: Just his voice reminds me. That's Demitiri that died right
Me: Yean, and now I think the fbi lady is in on it... or she'll be a character, but I'm betting in on it
Her: Her hair is bothering me.
Me: That's it, she is a bad guy! And take the jacket off neal!
Her: Oh snap!
Me: Wait... what... the witness was nabbed off camera? What kind of shitty writing is this?
Her: Yes they blew up the car the agents were taking her home
Me: Blew up? Wouldn't she blow up? Blah...
Her: He said tha agents had vests on and they grabbed her... Who knows
Me: I need to pay attention.. now I'm getting distracted
Her: What is the boss guy from?
Me: Not loving the suit... that guy has been in loads
Her: I've been to that dome thing!
Me: Cool!
Her: He looks familiar but he looks old and rough
Her: Ah I've been to the fountain too
Me: one word: imdb
Her: Totally need to. Ha
Me: ooo... clever sexy boy
Her: Shawn and Gus! :D
Me: Omg, horrible thought, do you think new FBI lady could be love interest for neal?
Me: Can't wait for more Pysch!
Her: I hope not. I do not like her. What do you think about kate?
Me: Lots of potential there
Her: All these secret messages going on. Woo. he's hot and I'm liking it so far.
Me: Just the right amount of suave, sexy and adoriable. Men should have to dress like that all the time again!
Her: Yeah, crisper than the hobo look
Me: Totally! And he is so... I almost want to say a young johnny depp
Her: Hmm. I'm gonna have to look him up.
Me: He was on Chuck, I got the first season dvd if you want to borrow it.
Her: Oh my god Bryce?!
Me: Ding! We have a winner!
Her: Wow I'm dense, how could I not recognize that. I love chuck!
Me: Well, he does look different in this, it's the clothes?
Her: Maybe or cuz he was always annoying me messing things up for chuck I didn't pay close enough attention to him.
Me: Yeah, but he's dead... probably... so now we get Neal Caffrey!
Her: Oh true maybe he'll stay dead this time. I miss Chuck. January right? Chuck knows kung foo now.
Me: That could be awesome, or totally jump the shark. What you watching now?
Her: Roseanne lol. I need to laydown.
Me: Yeah, we both got to work in the morning. I am going to watch numbers and sanctuary. Fuck sgu, I'll get around to it.

In reply to exitnine, #25:
According to an interview with executive producer David Hoberman[10], ABC first conceived the series as a police show with an Inspector Clouseau-like character suffering from obsessive–compulsive disorder. Hoberman said ABC wanted Michael Richards for the show[10], but Richards turned it down. Hoberman brought in Andy Breckman as creator, and Breckman, inspired by Sherlock Holmes, introduced a Doctor Watson-like character as Monk's nurse and an Inspector Lestrade-like character which eventually became Captain Stottlemeyer.

Although ABC originated the show, the network handed it off to the USA Network. USA is now owned by NBC (NBC Universal).[11] Monk was the first ABC Studios-produced show (formerly Touchstone Television) aired on USA Network instead of ABC.

tl;dr: yes.

It seems like USA, having three high-rated shows, two of which air late on Fridays in the "death slot", one of which is in its sixth season, and the other still going strong in its fourth, is going to become big in the coming years.

I cannot believe I forgot Burn Notice. I left of the FX shows (the Shield, Rescue Me, etc.) because those shows would not work on network.
