I own an All in One Canon MP480 Printer. It has the ability to scan to a PC, Flash Drive, or a SD Card. However, whenever I want to scan one of my drawings to the PC, the PC option doesn't work. Attempting to use this option will cause no action from the printer. When using the Flash Drive or SD Card, however, it works as normal.
Now I have tried multiple times to fix this issue, reinstalling drivers and using different cords and USB ports to see if there was any change. However, nothing seems to be letting the computer scan directly to the PC. When I use the printer, however, I have no trouble (except for some ink issue, unrelated).
Computer Specs: HP Pavilion dv9000 Laptop, with Window Vista SP2 I have an intel Centrino Duo Processor T5450 Running at 1.66 GHz 4 Gigs of Ram on a 32-Bit OS Canon MP480 is connected to a Targus 4x USB Hub w/ cooling fans.
For some reason, whenever I plug in my printer, it comes up with a "Safely Remove Hardware" option. When I right click and investiage, it says that not only does a MP480 Printer is connected, but also a "Removable Drive G:", which can't be accessed (Asking for a drive to be inserted into G:).
I found something interesting about THAT slot as well. When I plugged my SD card in, it said it was Write Protected. I figured, oh, the the switch probably got pushed towards locked. I tried it again, it was still locked protected. I could scan the document on to the SD card, but when I tried to use it inside the printer, it either wouldn't let me open the file or not show it at all. I had to take the card out of the slot in the printer and put it in the slot on my Laptop.
This has to mean a communications issue between the PC and the Printer itself, unfortunately, I am not sure why. It had no problem when I had this printer connected to a Desktop Tower PC.
