What kind of fighting style will the crawler be? will they run after you and tear your legs apart or are they going to spring a couple guns from behind their shoulders and shoot you whilst running side to side?

Cool opinion, bro.

Halo CE was a fantastic game, it had some solid enough gameplay and a nice atmosphere, but the story is pretty shallow and characters are non-existent. Maybe that defines most Halo games in a way, but I think with Halo 2 and ODST they really hit a balance between plot, gameplay and character development.

You cannot honestly tell me that you felt more for, for instance, Johnson in Halo CE than in Halo 2. In Halo CE, he was just another Marine you encountered a dozen times even after meeting the butt of my rifle (haw haw, innuendo); in Halo 2, he was fully grounded as a character with a substantial role in the plot. Every character Halo CE had who was in Halo 2 saw substantial improvements in terms of development, Cortana was there for more than just telling you where the next objective was, there was more of an emotional bond present which made us feel something about leaving her behind while High Charity is consumed by the Gravemind (as opposed to leaving her behind in Halo CE at the Control Room).

And then there's Thel, his story was infinitely more enticing and personal than anything Halo CE told us.

To sum it up, Halo CE told a story, Halo 2 told a universe. Or rather, I would direct you to the immortal words of Jason Jones:
"Halo 2 is alot like Halo 1, except it's Halo 1 on fire going 120 miles per hour through a hospital zone chased by helicopters and ninjas. And the ninjas are all on fire too."

I adore Halo Wars. I love rolling into a Covenant base with some Grizzly's all equipped with Spartans, and unleashing Hell. :P

I have many-a-fond memory of those halcyon days in 2009 with some good friends of mine doing 3v3 matches until the early hours of the morning on Halo Wars. It's such an underrated game, the story was excellent too but the multiplayer kept me coming back again and again and again for "one more game".

Okay, I'm back with my bro BA, though he isn't here right now.

Halo: ODST and Halo 2 WERE the best games in the series in my opinion, what I liked most of all about Halo 2 was that it gave a challenge, it was longer than the other games, it had a great soundtrack, and its the only Halo game I haven't beat on legendary because after 14 hours I was ready to shoot the damn disc. Also who would like for Halo 4 to be longer that the previous Xbox 360 Halo games?

Ok, i know there is, in general, a lot of Reach-hatred, but i'm going to be honest, it was my favourite of the series. This may be due to it being the first i actually owned on my own xbox, i'd just played rest at friends' houses (including the time i sat for 10 hrs straight playing Halo 3 while they were sleeping). Yes it has nothing on the story of Halo 3, but it doesn't contain that damn flood level on high charity. Yes it has nothing of the freshness of CE, but it also has more than 8 weapons. Yes it is beaten by 2 on length and ingenuity, but it's campaign is faster paced. ODST had a far superior campaign, but lacked in multiplayer.
Overall, i enjoyed it. Such is my opinion, i'm sticking to it. It was a fine send-off from Bungie after a decade of great work.

I really want a good long campaign outta this one. But the Spartan Ops have the oppurtunity to really make it last, more than the multiplayer alone could.

And how it convoluted the established fiction of 2 whole novels just for the sake of Bungie "telling their own story" which was frankly underdeveloped, sterile and dull in-comparison to every other Halo game...

So yes, basically Halo Reach might've been the worst game of the series.

But doesn't it make sense for Bungie, the guys that created the series in the first place to tell their own story with their own series? It would be dumb to get mad at George Lucas for not following the Star Wars novels when making his movies. Yes, i know there's plenty of other things to hate Lucas for, but let's not get into that. The point is, Bungie created Halo, and they had their own vision for the story, they may have licensed additional material, and even written some themselves, but when it comes down to it the games are the central story, and what happens is the game is entirely up the writers at Bungie, and now 343.

George Lucas makes bad decisions. The first three movies they had him on a leash, and they let him have creative control for the last 3.

Actually, the books weren't bungie's story, they merely oversaw the process. Plus they had no idea they would be doing a story about Reach themselves.
With 343i, at least we can say things have become more organised and connected, with all the books leading up to halo 4 and whatnot.

That was exactly me point. The Halo games are Bungie's story, but the novels are not, so they had absolutely no obligation to follow them.
