"PC games have better graphics, free mod DLC, more/better control options, higher framerates, larger library of games, cheaper prices for games, a good gaming PC only costs a little more than consoles (but you get what you pay for)"

I don't see any opinions backing up my statements. All that is true.

I guess xbox's/ps3's/whatever have good graphics and speed as standard, but cannot surpass that default. Without putting the money or the effort into a custom built PC, you'll never see the advantages it has - especially in modifying and enriching games.

Still very amazed at the prices of games these days though - I'll get brilliant ones off Steam for pennies, yet the big brands can still demand extortionate prices years on - it's ridiculous!

Lots of money for custom built PC's required? Pre-built gaming ready PC's under $800 says high!
Like I said, another "flaw" of PC gaming that's nothing more than a misconception.

Pre-builts are for pussy's
and you can build it yourself for a lot cheaper since they charge you for the labor and profit.

Plus it's way more satisfying and fun to build it yourself. It's easier than Lego's.

After 6 years i have finally upgraded. This was not because my pc couldn't handle games any more but that i needed a new laptop as im moving abroad. I ended up getting an alienware notebook(a lot more impressed by there laptop range than their overpriced pc's) and I absolutely love it. Costing me less a month for my gaming laptop than it is for my sisters iPhone contract haha.

A PC depends on how you build it. You build it with only an i3, refurbished graphics card, and 2 GB RAM, obviously your computer sucks, but more high powered stuff to focus mainly on gaming puts it over the top.

In terms of graphics, once again it depends on the graphics card. For me, I have a Radeon HD 6790, which runs BF3, MW3, and many other games on High settings.

I'm not going to diss Xbox or PS3 but the Xbox has a requirement that you pay Microsoft monthly, tri-monthly or what have you, just for multiplayer. As we all know, almost every single Xbox user plays a multiplayer game which, in a sense, drags them into the subscription whirlpool. PS3 is okay with me, I see no real flaws in the system besides that crash it had about a year ago.

PC,Console, Phone, Tablets my rule is if its got a good game then play it for which ever, limiting yourself to one object does not sound that fun to me.

I totally agree, I play games on my PC, my Xbox (both of them) my N64, my SNES, I even break out the Gameboy every once in a while for a real nostalgia rush. It's all about the play value, no matter what the system.

At the same time I can agree that PC's are difficult to keep up-to-date with. New stuff comes out every month that is better and better, which sorta sucks, but hey, as long as you have skills it's all good

I find a PC more reliable than most newer consoles out there though, as I can replace the parts if need.
You also don't have to get the newest parts all the time, only when you want to upgrade or
if something breaks down. Speaking of SNES, Gameboys, and N64's...you can also use free emulators online
that you can download to USB flashdrives.

It's also not every month actually, more like every year, like car models.

Yeah, I know you can get emulators, but it's also fun to play on the old consoles like you did 10 years ago. Also, PC's can be more reliable, but they can also be more expensive to keep replacing parts. And I know it's not every month, but it feels like every time i go to look up parts for my build, something else comes up that I didn't see before

Ironic, because I don't know a single friend of mine in real life who actually pirates games.

In fact the only person who I know who pirates things is my sister, and she pirates music, not games.

Just because it does not happen in your immediate group of friends does not mean that it does not happen. Also, you never know so of your friend could be pirating with out your knowledge of it.

Literally every person that i have met and been friends with either on the internet or in real life (that is a gamer) has either torrented something before or torrents frequently. (main form of online piracy, even though in my opinion its not)

I pirated one game once - But it was a game I already owned, had bought new, I had just lost the disk, and my younger brother wanted to play it. The game was Lego Racers 2, a pretty old game, and I had already paid for it, so I didn't feel bad about downloading it.

Other than that though, I find pirating games extremely classless and immoral, and, being an aspiring game developer myself, it kinda pisses me off a bit, seeing how many people do it. Most of my friends don't, but a handful do...

And I've met dozens that do - That's not exaggeration, just go to Moddb.com. Nearly everyone there pirates games, according to a front page poll a few months ago, and they comment there freely talking about it.

I try not to pirate things (I am an engineer who has spent his fair share of time coding and doing things), but usually it comes down to a service issue. When the pirates provide better service than the developer, it becomes a grey area of moral ambiguity. People like to think that most issues are a black and white decision, but it is usually a grey area that is not straight forward.

For example, Valve games are ones I never pirate. Why? Because they provide great service for their games/products which encourages me to pay them money for entertainment. When Infinity Ward (Activision) takes a shit on PC gamers and excludes support for mods, servers and generally expected features in PC games for their Call of Duty franchise (one that started on the PC mind you), it becomes less clear about if piracy is right or wrong. My general stance about game piracy is that if I am interested in a game I will pirate it, and buy it later if I like it. Another issue that comes up is when older games are no longer widely available to purchase. What if I want said game? Piracy is usually the consequence of this problem and one that will continue if people do not change how they make software and how they do business.

Some people also pirate because parents do not allow them to purchase games.
But pirating games isn't all bad in my opinion. Before I could purchase Minecraft, I
pirated the most recent patch, and played it for about a month while waiting to purchase
the actual game, so in the end Mojang still got the profit.

whippster98
Actually,I take advantage of the situation when new parts come out. The older parts, although
not as up-to-date is the newest ones, are still pretty new, so you still get a great amount of
performance from your PC, just not all the shiny features the newer parts have.

Another reason I forgot to mention was that Steam offers great sales and deals every few months,
such as pricing Portal 2 for $5 only a year after it's release, and a whole bunch of other great deals
like Skyrim at $40 only months after it's release. Xbox Live simply does not seem to offer deals that
can beat those on Steam, so in the end Steam saves me more money. One of the only reasons I purchased
an Xbox 360 was mainly for playing Halo with friends, so that's mainly the reason why I have an Xbox.

Or you could, ya know, just not play the game. For instance, I have a huge problem with Activision, as a company, so I don't play any of their games. No pirating or buying. Although, if a game I wanted to play had some awful DRM(Like if I ever decided to play Assassin's Creed 2), I'd probably buy a copy, then download another copy, so I'd be supporting the devs, and playing a working game at the same time.

As for old games, I can understand that. Unless it's on GoG, which has tons of old games, DRM free. I actually thought about downloading Wing Commander once, but then it was added to GoG, so I bought it there instead.

I never said I pirated the game. I am explaining to you the common cause of piracy of digital media. TV shows for example. If HBO had an online service that for a monthly fee you could watch all their shows when ever you wanted I would totally pay for that. The problem that exists however is currently the only way to watch HBO is to first pay a regional cable provider (which already have borderline monopolies) then pay extra for the premium content. This is a total service issue that entertainment providers have failed to realize, in this case a television network. As media distribution has evolved beyond traditional means, most of those who provide entertainment have not caught up with the current demand which conforms with the current technology.

well if you already bought the game and still have a key then torrenting the game is not against the law, its when the crack is used that it is illegal. since you still have your own key that you paid for its not pirating just downloading a copy of the installer and using your own key. That's how amazon does their Video Game downloads. They give you a key and a download for the installer of the game, that or give you a key for steam.

Not even every month, for example my current computer: Core 2 Quad Q9450, 4GB Gskillz dual channel memory, MSI P7N Diamond, 2x XFX Geforce 9600GT Alpha Dog Edition.

I put this computer together 3 years ago, and it still plows through newer titles with most if not all the settings maxxed. The only settings I don't max are anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing, and that's just a matter of taste. The only reason I'm considering upgrading video cards now is for native DX11 support, the ones I have require a driver hack to get partial DX11 support, and I'm interested in expanding my Direct3D coding into DX11 now that it's more commonly supported.

Yes, basically 90% of people who don't like PC gaming are stupid and don't know anything about PC gaming, and believe ridiculous myths like "You gotta upgrade every month/year".

I'm pretty sure the "you gotta upgrade every year" lie is actual trolling. When I ask why people don't play on PC, all I ever get is myths like that and "It cost THOUSANDS" B.S.

You not liking what I say does not make me a troll.

Uhhh, no. Something that outright isn't true is a lie, not a "difference of opinion". Its just NOT TRUE that a good gaming rig has to cost THOUSANDS!! It's just not true that you have to upgrade a good gaming PC every month, or every year, or even every two years to be able to comfortably run games. THEY ARE LIES!! If I said the sky is fucking yellow, made of cheese, and that clouds are really dragons from space, is that a different opinion or just a completely wrong lie? I understand that "I don't like PC/ I prefer consoles" is an opinion, its just that people's reasoning behind these opinions are just outright untrue, false information, or complete bullshit the vast majority of the time. I'm tired of being ignored and put down for using a platform that is FACTUALLY more powerful, more flexible, and plays games better. Are you not annoyed that this whole site and rooster teeth itself seem to complete ignore PC? That they have videos up where people like Ray tell PC gamer's to "suck his nuts". Its ridiculous!

Son, you really need to learn to calm down. You seem to believe that putting words into other peoples mouths are how you make a proper counterargument, or that's how you take part in a discussion with your peers. I'm here to tell you that it's not.

1.) I did not say anything about the price of computers. Direct your comment towards the proper people.

2.) I did not say anything regarding timeliness of computer upgrades. Direct your comment towards the proper people.

3.) You are attempting to take points 1 and 2 as my arguments and you're slinging them against what I actually said, which was a response to post #117. I dislike what you say, which is a difference of opinion. That is a truth. You cannot take what someone states in a completely disassociated view with the topic at large and try to use it to bolster your argument.

4.) You are a troll. That is also a truth.

5.) No, I don't care that RT ignores the PC. They didn't start on the PC, and their company almost exclusively uses Macs which most companies don't even make games for. I find it funny that this sticks in your craw and I have no idea why you stick around here if it annoys you so much.
