Well I've heard of Ryan getting banned for all the same reasons as you said Duffs did but it happened when I wasn't around but I'm not certain.
There can't be that many people with perma-bans anyway they aren't the easiest things to come into possession of. Seasonal bans for stat-padding or douchebaggary is fair enough but for ever and ever, you got to do something special for that.
Hello guys, If you are interested in playing a Halo 3 Euro rush later today (Sunday), roughly 7-8pm start, you will need the following...... 1. A copy of Halo 3 2. At least 3 other people who also have Halo 3
Hello Grifballers, it is me Messiah Muffin your EUGBL commissioner for another season. As you know I was commissioner last season and as an election didn't take place this means that my reasons for standing could have gone to waste. But I decided not to waste it and instead here it some stuff from me.
Last season I think I did good things for the league. Maybe the actual league didn't have the numbers that we would have liked but I still think the league ran well and to a deadline. I also re-wrote the rules to make them more clear and I also got the league a new site to record its stats, getting us involved with the Grifball.Info site which records the stats for the AGLA too. There wasn't really much controversy or anything for me to note so I can't really talk about how I handled things because nothing happened for me to handle. But I like to think if there had been, which I hoped there would not and there was not, that I would handle it. Also I have been trying to raise the profile of the league. I tried to get the league more exposure on GrifballHub by starting up a EUGBL Discussion thread there as well as writing multiple articles for the website for its front page. I think that I have managed to bring more attention to our league.
For this next season, instead of picking a time to start a league in advance I am going to try and make sure that we have a number of teams interested first. I think that we should try and make sure that there are plenty of teams available who are committed and ready to play, perhaps placing these new teams against established teams like my team, Sarge's Angels and Team Impact so that they will know what they are up against and can then use this to improve themselves more. Some teams get a shock when they find the difference in league caliber to matchmaking so I think we should make sure they are aware what they are getting themselves in for. The worst case scenario would be that they quit but then it would be likely they would have done that during the season instead. Hopefully the team would try and improve to that level and would get a drive to continue.
I don't think at this time I will be looking at any changes to how the league is run or any of the rules as personally I think they are fine as they are. I know there has been suggestion of bringing in a guest rule that I will review but I would rather not see that rule and instead think that instead the answer would be better scheduling from teams, using all of the time they have instead of just the last week and trying to find some players to use as subs in case they are needed. Just your friend who plays Grifball sometimes could do. I would also consider doing a amateur and pro set-up to the league but that would depend on multiple things such as sign-up numbers, how the divisions would look and what happens with the upcoming GGL which I will be using to scout for more teams like usual and trying to recruit them to the league. However once I feel we have teams ready I will make it clear that the league is about to begin. I am hoping to have the EUGBL12 done during Spring so that we could have another league in Summer and maybe one in Autumn depending on Halo 4.
An idea I am thinking about creating an EUGBL Shortlist. This would be a two part list of teams and players who are interested in joining the EUGBL. This list would help keep track of which teams want to join the league so that I could keep in contact with them and so players and other teams can contact them. It would also help players find teams or form teams, or this is the idea. Any player or team could join the list (who of course are eligible for the league) and I hope this idea would help us create a big pool of reliable European teams so that we can have a large next season of the EUGBL. Instead of committing to the league they are instead committing their desire to play Grifball so I hope we can use this to keep track of who wishes to play and then prepare them in time for the league.
If there is anything else I am open to suggestions and if there is anything you are not happy about you can always tell me. Likewise if you ever need help scheduling, getting in contact with the opposition teams or for general queries I'm also happy to help. Also on the front of highlights, I have no problem with anybody doing highlights I only ask that you tell me that you wish to do them so I can get it out there so that we may have a good reel. A good highlight reel could be a good way to once again get more exposure for the league.
Well this was going to be my "Vote for me" thing but I've just edited it to stay stuff so if anything sounds weird that may be why. Anyway let's look forward to a bright future for the EUGBL everyone.
- Messiah Muffin
*On another note today we sadly say goodbye to our Grifball friend, teammate and occasional lover for Sev, NonDairyTea. We wish Marcus all the best in his army adventures and hopes he returns to us one day to play Grifball with us once again.
Jesus, just realised that the GGL only does 5 round games. When the hell did they switch from 9? And has the EU one changed to only 5 rounds as well? I'm so confused. :S
Okay. I thought I better check before I put the wrong one on and get screeched at. Thanks muchly.
ps can I get a link to the EU grifball gametype? I don't think I've updated since the one that came out when Reach was first released. I've been out the loop a little bit. :P
Also the EUGBL is 9 Round while the GGL is Default 5 Round. However if both teams agree you can play any Grifball gametype on any map so a lot of the teams simply choose to go 9 Round. So basically if you want 9 rounds just ask the opponent. Only one team wouldn't play us at 9 rounds but apart from that, that was how we played all our games.
The competition runs on EST time but all the European teams will be put in the same timeslot and we should play on Saturdays at 7pm GMT but you can play any time.
The only time that scheduling gets difficult can be the playoffs when you have to schedule against American teams but we've always been able to get our games done.
I maybe have two playersavailable that would be interested in joining a team if anyone is interested. One is quite okay for someone who just started today and the other is un-tried but would probably want to. They're cousins.
Well there is still a week to get anything sorted before the GGL begins. The GGL is more recreational and lenient than the EUGBL so it is probably a better place for a new team to start off. There are already 4 European teams signed up (maybe more) so it's already looking quite good.
Okay well The A-team rejected (Like JSG's daughter atm) are trying to get any players for their team. They just started but seem commited and Im trying to help them get more people. Anyone interested? Wont matter who you are but they really want players that can have a bit o' banter.
