It'll be fun. We're going to have a bunch of cool art and signed merch and other cool stuff available via a silent auction.
Also, if you're coming into town a bit early our event at the Highball is going to be rocking. Last year that seemed to be where people had the most fun, and we're trying to take it to another level this year!
Created a thread for this before I though to post it here but awell.
Hey everybody
Ill be 21 in May and hope to visit 6th street while I'm in Austin for RTX This will be my first time in Austin since I was about 10 years old so some company would be appreciated. anybody down?
There's going to be a shitton of people at RTX, you'll have company.
And rightfully so, I'm not. But just to clarify, SideQuest is a creation of Count3D that I co-organize and co-host. It is not run by RT staff at all. They just did us a huge favor by posting about it on the front page and mentioning it in the podcast.
We have reserved space at all of our events for the RT staff and they have been formally invited. However, they're going to be extremely busy with RTX that weekend and so they can't promise that they'll make it. We have been told by several staff members that if they can, they will be there.
Can I just say how excited I am about Sidequest and RTX in general? I probably think about that weekend way too much... and it's only April. Will be cool to meet some of you cool dudes.
I agree, seeing everyone decked out will be a sight to see! Group photo!
Don't have anything too fancy lying around except work clothes(teacher garb), but I think I could work up a decent cocktail outfit. Maybe it's time I buy a jacket...
Just to be sure everyone knows, fancy dress isn't required. We call it "cocktail casual" meaning anything from "cocktail attire" to your usual casual (jeans+nice shirt) is preferred. Of course, this is entirely optional, but we figured some people might like an excuse to look nice during RTX!
I'll buy some drinks for you guys. You have my word. And my axe.
It'll also be my birthday that weekend. Combine that with the fact that it'll probably be my first post-baby getaway (my wife's due date is next Saturday) and I expect to have all the drinks.
Congrats on the baby, dad. If I were old enough, I would def buy you a drink. Unfortunately, I must content myself with a lack luster life of laser tag and general tomfoolery. It sucks to be young and free.
I don't know if my group is going to any of the Sidequest stuff yet, and from the sounds of it, doesn't look like we'll have an easy time getting tickets.
I hope you do! We only have a handful (13) of cocktail party tickets left, but plenty of Highball and Salt Lick to go around. We also should be releasing more BarLympics tickets in the near-future, but I'm waiting on confirmation from our venue.
