Its been years, Bungie has made games from halo 2000 to halo halo reach, books have been written, amazing music has been made, hearts have been touched, comics were made, movies, news articles, they practically made history! Bungie has been famous for years and years, and now they're ending it all. why would Bungie give up on continuing halo? why would they give up making halo 4 and start something new? What are your thoughts?

I agree dude the Halo series is one of my favorite seies in video games. But they have been doing it for 10 years, they probaley just want to start something new.

Because they don't want to be Nintendo? Honestly 10 years is plenty for a game series. Sure, you can always write more to the story (Microsoft and 343 doing Halo 4, and possibly 5 and 6), but that's overkill.

That is the exact reason I am really not looking forward to Halo 4.

I know 343 stated that they had plans to make another trilogy, but the creation of the other two really depends on the reception of Halo 4.

Halo 4 marks the start of a new TRILOGY that begins with its release in 2012.

Next time, read the official Halo 4 site...

What Bungie HAS gone on to seems like a very ambitious and exciting idea all in its own. Bungie over the past few years has given subtle hints to their current project. My first hint was at PAX 2010 when Bungie showed a picture of The eye of Horus layed over a background of space. This website has done a good job putting pieces from all over to a well educated guess. I wouldn't click the link if you want to keep Bungie's next game a surprise however.

Hmm... It makes more sense when you see it in that perspective. And I guess if you're gonna start off new, might as well do it when you're on top.

After a decade, they were feeling creatively burned out on the Halo franchise. As part of their deal to become an independent from Microsoft and be able to publish games on other platforms they left the Halo IP behind.

The franchise will continue with a fresh perspective and hopefully go bold new places. This was the best possible outcome for everyone.

I don't see why people continue to fuss over this. 343 hasn't even been given a chance yet, and all I've for near on a year now is nothing but a stone wall of damnation. The terminals in Anniversary were intriguing, and Glasslands is one of the best novels I've seen written for a video game series. And if Halo 4 ties into these post war books, I already have a good amount of desire to see this through.

Whereas I'm going on info I've collected from these sources, many fans seem content to despise it prematurely on conjecture conceived from a mere teaser, which has, and I'll emphasize this, time and time again, to NOT be canon, only serving to announce the return of the chief. The armor was very loosely designed by the outsourced studio going on vague directions by Microsoft, so no one has any idea as to what exactly Halo 4 looks like or is about in the slightest.

Bungie had a good run, they wanted to move on. I don't blame them/ But I personally believe Halo has indeed been left in good hands. I don't care if no one agrees with me or not.

My own objection to Halo 4 isn't to the fact that I think 343 will do a bad job. In fact, I think they'll do a great job with the game. Nearly half the production team consists of ex Bungie employees. I just feel that Reach left the series with a nice finish. A feeling of going full circle and closure. I'm not personally a fan of stories that never end, but instead of stories that can tell a decently long tale, then be able to let the end, rather than seeing how long they can extend it for.

To be honest, I hate when people say that Nintendo milks their franchises. They keep the same franchise going for a long time, but the games also tend to change significantly over time. They're also well spaced out, probably more than any series besides Half-life, and are in genres that have inherently less stagnation. The only franchise which really never changed that much is Zelda, and Skyward Sword has changed the

Crap, never finished the post. It's a bit off topic anyways, just a little rant.

Back to the original topic, haven't you had enough Halo? Multi-player and forge provide tons of replayability. Halo: Reach has refined the Halo gameplay to its finest, Halo 3 provided a satisfying end to Master Chief's story, and anything else would really be superfluous. It's like if they made a sequel to Blade Runner (which I hope they never actually do).

well i agree with you that halo reach has refined the halo gameplay to its finest. Some people here might not be the biggest fan of halo, but i am, and i want the story to continue as long as possible, i was a big halo fan of halo since i was 11, and i never got bored of it, i know you guys probably dont feel the same way, but i love halo and i dont want the series to end.

Would you want the story to continue at the expense of its quality? Obviously 343 knows what they're doing, but if it continues forever, someone's going to make a mistake.

343 didn't make that trailer, it was made by some 3rd party CGI company...
I can't think of the name atm....

But anyway the trailer isn't cannon.

To be honest Bungie were getting tired of Halo. The new game "Destiny" will be good because its Bungie are doing something that they really want to do. And they better show up at E3, they've been dark for far too long.

They've been dark for a year and a half. Reach was released in Sept 2010. Being a small company I think they're allowed at least 2-3 years of no real news

Bungie wanted Halo to be done once they'd finished Halo 3. But Microsoft kept them on their contract, and in the next three years, they made two more games. Once they had the freedom to leave, they did so.

With this knowledge, Microsoft reigned in a few people, and now we have 343i Studios making the next Halo games.

I was time for them to leave, the series is perfect right now, Halo could've never been made and I would be fine with that fact.
