As always here comes the question As always Be extensive but dont be boring. Put some actual effort into it.
Why do you think the Director started the FreeLancer program? Did he have ulterior motives? We all saw that one of his goals was to recreate his lost love. What good would come from that? Why would he think that would make things better for him? What could he expect from " bringing her back to life"? Is it Fair to church that him and Tex are essentially destined to be together? Would you have preferred that he didnt " Forget Tex" at the end of the season.?
Now you dont have to to answer ALL these questions you can choose ones, or even add some more insight that i might have missed. Remember the focus is generally between Church, Tex and The Director.
Maybe its a way to clear his conscious. So far we really have no idea on what happened to the original "tex". The whole creating something to fill in for something you lost really is most present in people who feel guilty for something happening. We also know very little on his past so the freelancer program might just be there as a way for church and tex to relive what he did yet be better prepared. He may also simply have a really large ego or god complex.
It was said the Tex/Alison was someone that the director loved in his past that he could not protect. The director said he never got the chance to go to war or "Fire his guns". Maybe he started the Freelancer program to try and relive his past and correct the mistake that he made?
1. I believe that the reason for Project: Freelancer was created out of the Director's mean's for revenge, as his Daughter/wife/sister ect., Alison, was seriously wounded in the early days of knowing the "blargh blargh people" race by one of them, after doing something to offend them (The director originally being there on a peace mission as a diplomat, the director later pointing his gun at the assailant, being unable to pull the trigger, the aliens seeing that as an act of war), causing the director to seek revenge against the race by any means necessary, even if it meant putting all his time and money into his own "private army" (him getting the money firstly from being from a very successful background or military fundings, later from the payments of the freelancers), being project freelancer, assisted by an AI core that he found on one of the aliens, the alpha, which he moulded into a younger version of himself. This AI program would be there for Alison, his daughter/wife/sister ect. to live his life, picking up his role as the father/husband/brother ect. that he would no longer be able to fill for her. The reason for agent texas, if you can't hear from the directors voice, is because they were/are Texan's. the reason for the accident, probably a mistake by the aliens... but anyway, so he wanted her to be able to keep the same life as before, just slightly cyborg due to some injuries, causing her to be fast, strong, accurate ect. . However, soon into the progress he discovered she had permanent amnesia, forgetting all about him and their past life that they had together. However, she does remember Key things like how her lover's name was church (which is what made me believe that it's more wife than anything, or just girlfriend(which could have been the complication that church was talking about was her getting injured...)) and his younger face, so the director did the only thing he could; he asked the Alpha to play the part of him... however the Alpha couldn't do it, not while it had all its personalities, each telling it to do something different and such, the Epsilon unit always remembering its primary function of being Leonard, so the director did the only thing he could to make it forget who it was, attempting to remove the Epsilon, finding that he couldn't without having to go through each other separate personality to find the Memory. When he finally did, he downloaded the proper programs that he had stripped, refilled them with Leonard Church till the age of 29 or whatever, and introduced the new Alison to Memories of this new Church, which the church unit itself had coinciding memories of. however, the other Freelancers soon discovered that she was special to the director, soon placing a "hit" on her, all for their own reasons (Carolina, because Tex was better than her and out ranked her, Maine and Wyoming, because they just wanted her dead, South because..... she's south? and then other things like that) causing the director to place her in hiding, putting the "Church unit just ahead of her final destination with him, where her in the mean time was off doing random missions for money, away from the other freelancers. however, he knew that hiding her wouldn't be enough, so he gave her a final gift, the Alpha's Rage, O'maley, as a final protection so as she could fight back against the others, also being the reason that the Omega wanted to always come back to Tex, "eliminating" all others (i think he knew that army of robots couldn't kill Tex)
2. He saw it as giving her a second chance at life, his final gift to her, as he saw it that he felt caused the original damage by bringing her along with him on he peace talks with the aliens, but also bringing her back with him as she remembered and loved him. he didn't care about his life, his well being, even the rest of the galaxy, so long as Alison lived, he was happy.
3. well, it is what he was designed to be with her forever, him being a program inserted into one of the many church bots, her being a Cyborg, with such new unique features that she would be able to live for 10 human life times. the reason he "forgot her" was because the Epsilon was still partly in the Alpha while it was being torn apart and reprogramed, getting the orders "do what's best for her, protect her as well as possible, never let her be in pain" ect., and him seeing the world being destroyed believed that it would be a very painful, unwanted process and thus made protected her from the pain in the only wa he could, he made her leave the danger zone....
That's a possibility, im still strong for the fact that Church is a Ghost, but this would be my second opinion of "Where did Tex and Church come from" so yeah, hope you enjoy/ed reading it :)
I don't know that it was Dr. Church's intention to recreate his lost love. It would seem that he wished to make a difference, as penance for failing the woman he loved. When Tex was created from his mind, with the creation of Alpha, he may have viewed it as a sign, since his obsessive mind would likely see such an occurrence that way. The cycle of obsession was not fair for Alpha, Epsilon, or Tex. It simply was. And the fact that Epsilon, the memory, was the one who started to move on... I approve.
also, did anyone else notice in the episode 9 of season 8, when tex goes to crack her neck it makes the sound of like a moving machine, the suspension or hydrolics or whatever?
