I have to say the most annoying had to be the "If They Came to Hear me Beg" achievement from Halo: Reach. I started a quick run on the level pillar of autumn and sat there for more then an hour and a half trying to get that achievement. I had assassinated him MULTIPLE times and the the achievement still wouldn't pop. I thought the achievement was screwy and just gave up on it. A week later I went to the campaign to play a game and looked at the easy setting of the game.... Turns out you couldn't get achievements on easy.
So I finally set the game to normal and tried it again, and on my first try I got it. Your stories?
I tried the same achievement on Reach on Normal, and tried over and over and over, it wouldn't show up even when the assassination WORKED, but it eventually popped up. Definitely the most annoying though.
Any achievement that require you to play X number of multiplayer games in a specific map, kill someone with a specific weapon, or anything where you have to focus your online gaming in one way, rather than simply having fun in it.
In Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, "Looking out for the little guys" was def. the stupidest and most annoying thing i've ever done. On the level Two Betrayals you have to play the whole thing without killing a single grunt on heroic or above. I ran through that level so many times thinking I got it, but apparently I killed one without knowing it. On like the 100th time it finally gave it to me, awarding me 1000g on that game! I can now play Two Betrayals in like 15 minutes.
The easiest way to do this is to do it in Co-op. I got that by letting him take care of the grunts. That's probably the easiest way to get that achievement...

You would hate a BF3 one. You need to get a kill with an Assault rifle, Jet and tank in the same life.
I don't mind achievements that are of odd value or such, it's just the ones that take forever to collect the required items. Stuff like Crackdown's Orb Hunter and Free Runner do my nut in.
I hate it when you have to beat a game to unlock the hardest setting. And then there is an acheve for beating the game on that setting. Also Co-op acheves, not everyone has friends.
Ninety Nine Nights. Clear Special Mission. This achievement was worth of 100 points and another one was 200 points (Compleating all missions with A rank). But here's the catch, you couldnt beat the special mission unless you fought it over and over again basicly grinding for one rare item drop that finally allowed you to beat the boss. You couldnt beat it without the item.
Last mission was bugged too (atleast for me), no matter how perfecly you did the mission it never gave the damn A rank.
So I never obtained these two achievements in the end.
Annoying: anything that is simply handed to you, I booted up Twisted metal 2012 and it gave me a trophy for putting the disk in the trey.
Rage inducing: kill x number of people/aliens/monsters. I don't have the time to be killing a shit I have a game to beat/ matches to win/ or collectables to find.
I also had a shittingly hard time getting if they came to hear me beg. I assassinated him multiple times always playing on legendary, because hey why not. It just refused to pop up. I think it took me hours of play to eventually get it. Super frustrating
In reply to JDstar, #21: Yea I remembering hearing about those achievements.... That just seems impossible and only an achievement a few people can get.
Yea I have that game right now and just getting at least 50% of the achievements looks impossible. Not only that they're ALL SECRET achievements so you need to look online for them.....
"But where can I find this information?"
Well you can come to Achievement Hunter, where they have achievement guides for all your favorite games, as well as news for games coming out soon.
