Well, in certain ways. But with Halo 4 coming up and having a bit of story implemented into multiplayer ("a valid reason for blue Spartans to kill red Spartans" and vice versa according to Frank O'Connor), it really can't, because it's likely going to contradict most of RvB's story.
With 343 making a back round story for the multiplayer and most of the workers at 343 are Halo fans. This could be an excellent time for RvB to dive into the canon. Do think this will happen, no. But it would be interesting.
Red vs. Blue has always had references to things that happen in the Halo universe. The very first episode straight up spoils the ending of the first game. I also thought it was mentioned that the Freelancer project was one of the many projects to create super solders along with the Spartan project. Bungie also has made several references to RvB in their games as well so yes. RvB could be a real thing in the Halo universe.

From what I can tell thus far, the story is that they are testing Spartan 4s. And that fits with RvB pretty perfectly once they move into Halo 4.
RoosterTeeth is an official part of the Halo media, be kind of mean for 343 to bump them out of the series now.
I like to think of Red vs Blue as an alternate take of the Halo Universe. Particularily in Season 1, Recreation, and Season 9, there is evidence supporting that the games pre-Halo 4 do coexist alongside the events that take place in the first ten seasons of Red vs Blue. However, as Red vs Blue (hopefully) expands beyond Season 10, and Halo (hopefully) beyond Halo 4, I think they will end branching off into their own separate entities.
But the plot of Season 5 was directly related to the Halo plot. The plan was for Omalley to inhabit Tucker Jr., an Elite, take the Laser Sword, an Elite religious artifact, and infiltrate the Elite ranks with it, become their leader, then destroy them from the inside.
In reply to Pseudonym34, #6: Tex is a bad-ass who could easily kick my ass, but the chief defeated the flood and the covenant armada basically at the same time. it would be a good fight, but in the end i think the chief would win
why has no one mentioned the fact that caboose was in the reach campaign, havent you seen this [link=http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=3420&v=more&s=9]
Not to burst anyone's bubble but I believe they talked about this on a past podcast. Something about bungee not allowing it to be at the time or some nonsense like that (I could be wrong though).
WTF does Halo 4 Multiplayer have to do with anything I just said. Heck what does the Grif not appearing in a Grifball Tournament have anything to with what I said?!?! I don't mind you challenging my word, but make sure your reply has some bloody sense to it. All I was stating was that, last I had heard, RvB wasn't part of the Halo canon. That is all.
edit: before you reply, InUranus, keep in mind that I understand 343 now works on Halo, Bungee use to make Halo, Rooster Teeth does a lot of work with these companies and it is completely possible that things have changed since then. But unless there is a source/video/clip/whatever out there all I can do is go off of the information I currently have. If anyone has any more available info, though, I would greatly appreciate a a link to your source.
I think Burnie once answered this at a Q&A somewhere and his answer was something like "Don't asking where Red vs Blue fits into the Halo canon, but rather where does Halo fit into the Red vs Blue canon".
In all seriousness I believe Red vs Blue happens in the Halo Universe because during the Blood Gulch series they mentioned the events of Halo1 and 2 either happened or were happening and it is said the Recollection trilogy happens about a year after the end of the Human-Covenant War. And plus there was that easter egg in Halo 3 where the Red vs Blue guys were at the door in Crow's Nest
Well, there are several similarities between Halo and Red Vs Blue, like how AIs are made, right?
I kind of think of Red Vs Blue as a parallell universe or something though, because (If I remember ocrrectly), Master Chief was the last Spartan II alive right, and the freelancers are way too awesome to be anything less.
I'd like to think of it as being in the same universe though, so if anyone can disprove me, go ahead :)
Because one, they only had around less than a hundred S2s, all of which cost as much as a fleet of warships, and two, the S3s were disposable, both companies of S3s (around 500-600 total if Im correct) except for around 10 or 20 pulled out for special purposes, are all DEAD.
