Cats in the military [ 1 ] [ 2 ]

I think the RT podcast has estabilshed pretty clearly that cats can survive any fall above a given height (about 7 stories.)
This got me thinking; since Lions are basically large cats they could technically function as feline ODSTs. we simply round a pride of hungry lions into the back of a C 130, and then drive them out over the unsuspecting enemy positions. I can imagine that a surprise lion attack would be very effective. Infact, even if the lions didn't survive the drop, wouldnt being hit by a lion be pretty nasty anyway?
so the question is: would this work, could this work, what other roles could our favourite animals have on the battleground?

If you're going with a Halo comparison, surely a Puma would be better...

well, cats have need at least 7 stories, and after that their pretty much safe from any hight. I'd say around 6000-10 000 feet should do the job, considering flying to low might result in the whole plane and the pride of lions being shot down :(

True but getting them to claw at any time other than wherever they feel like is an issue, maybe have like a can of liquid catnip or something, lol.

Just starve them for a few days like guard dogs. Then they're ready to eat faces off.

but how are you going to order a cat to do something when their hungry. When you stand in front of them and order them, you are going to be eaten first.

Poke them out of the airplane with sticks! They don't like being poked. And have a hose to spray them.

lol From the first post, GuyFromUK had lions jumping out of C130s. Now, how you get hungry hungry lions into a C130 in the first place is a different matter.

Hmm, perhaps just slightly sharpened. If they go out all bloody, they might turn on each other.

I noticed a serious lack of cats in this thread. Fortunately I have my own. I'd say these little guys are ready for battle.

Yes, I am bored at home sick today. Fevers rule :/

So my cat sitting in my lap is actually a highly trained commando that could snap at any second and kill me?

The cat already decided that it's not above sitting on people. I'm pretty sure it's already decided that it's above you in the food chain.
