Just curious as the amount of choice in how you play is immense! Im a Redguard Battlemage I mainly use Archery and Destructive Magic; Along with One-Handed/Shield combo. Very fun class and versatile! What about YOU RT Community?
I mainly use a one-handed sword and Destruction/Restoration magic combo, but I also use bows and daggers to do some extra sneak damage before I lay into them with magic and swords. The only problem is that trying to balance out health and magic will often leave me vulnerable while fighting stronger enemies, and then I die a dozen times before I pull a trick out of my hat.
Call me boring, but Nordic Warrior. I tend to suit up in Daedric armor, then use a Daedric one-handed sword in one hand and a restoration spell in the other, just in case. I try to change it up from time to time, but that's the combo that I'm most comfortable with.
I tend to play argonian, wear light armour and rock out with just a sword and shield. I was never big on magic and I love just flying from enemy to enemy smashing them with my sheild and finishing them off with a nice big stab :P.
Breton Archer mage, fun to use maybe not the strongest class but the magic in the game is very fun to mess around with plus I can spend hours with cabbages and buckets
Im the same. Spam restoration ALL THE TIME. I like to keep Stamina, Health and Magicka balanced. Im not sure if i should invest more in one than the rest :/ Is the level cap 81 or 100? And does that mean you only have 81/100 perk points?
I like to keep it my Stamina, Health and Magicka balanced too, then I boost the one I find most useful with gear. The only reason I'd personally put more in one stat would be if I was being a strict magic user, putting the majority of the level up bonus into Magicka. As for the level cap, UESPWiki states: "The maximum level is level 81 and is reached by increasing all skills to 100. With every skill mastered, the level progress meter will rest a little over halfway to '82', meaning it is not necessary to master every skill to achieve Level 81."
khajiit with the common taktic: "see-smash it". started training stealth skill, but im a bit impatient and ended up just running to the enemy and beat the crap out of it xD i´m not using much spell, mostly supporting spells. and i love using all these kinds of shouts! next i think i start with an argonian again
Argonian Mage. Destruction/Conjuration, occasionally use Bound Bow just to screw around. Character is pretty much invincible at this point (lvl 62). Dragon plate armor.
currently I am playing a khajiit bowman in light armour. After a few hits with the bow I strike with my fists (which have a bonus because I'm a Khajiit)
Soft level cap at 50, true level cap at 81. If you max all skills to 100, you get to 81 with half the level bar filled. I'm sure if you're on PC and use console commands you can cheat beyond that, but on Xbox, you can only get to 81. Not that you really need to, I stopped even worrying about enemies attacking once I got to ~40. You really do end up feeling like a god once you hit 50 or so.
I never use conjuration or illusion. I spent like 20 mins levelling up my block while listening to the latest RT podcast. I cornered this bandit with a hammer in a cave, and all she would do is repeatedly charge attack me. Every so often would pop a healing spell. I went from Level 23 to 56 :D
Actually, most people play the Redguard as a battle mage or a spell sword; as your start off with +5 to both destruction and restoration. Its how i play it. Also a direct quote from Elder Scrolls Wikia " In Skyrim it is possible, and viable, to make a redguard mage, which was not the case with the previous games"

So it is a very good option in Skyrim
Rrrrrrr. I really dislike that. I mean, most of the fun in the Elder Scrolls games is learning the lore and how the world works; Redguards are actively opposed to using magic because they believe it to be a sign of weakness, if not outright wickedness, in the person using it. That's why they're the deadly weapons users; they're supposed to be the counterbalance to the magic users. My biggest complaint with Skyrim has been that it's so ridiculously easy to become good at every single thing, that there is no real distinction between the classes and races anymore. It really is the one thing about Skyrim that I'm the most disappointed with.
Nord Adventurer, I embraced the do anything mentality and use every type of weapon/spell (accept for two-handers) my usual stratagey for taking on something big is to stealth shoot a couple arrows and once it's mad, if not dead, summon a Daedra of some sort, blow the rest of my mana on fireballs and sprint power attack in with a sword and shield, its hectic and fun
From a canonical standpoint i see why it would annoy you. But in Skyrim the gameplay has been opened up completely. The races give you diff rent starting points; but you are not limited to a play style. You fancy becoming an archer, do it. Now you wanna go in with a mace and shield, do it. It presents true freedom in its gameplay. I like many others like this, but i understand your point of view!
