Ok, so I know most people have moved on from this film but I was listening to one of the RT podcasts, forget which number, and Burnie said it was a good watch, so I downloaded it and started watching it but got a little bored after the first few minutes. I then sat down again today, watched it, then thought, this HAS to be one of my top ten films of my life. I don't even know what it is about the film, but they create really good atmosphere. I wont go into details because I don't want to spoil it but damn, VERY good film IMO. Opinions?

I agree with you. The start of the film was not that exciting, but later on it really shows how good Liam is :)

Excellent film all around. That scene in the plane just after it goes down and their rallying the survivors gives me chills every time.

It's so well done and perfectly executed from start to finish.

And as they said in the podcast, the trailer kills the movie I mean seriously who puts the last scene of the movie in the trailer, when you see it in the movie you think that an awesome fight scene is about to start, but instead the movie just ends xD

It was a really really good movie. I saw it in theaters a few months and just watched it again like two weeks ago with the girlfriend. Regardless of the fact that it's the middle of the summer, I was still freezing my ass of watching it. Scary to think that they were supposedly actually filming in legit subzero temperatures.

Also, if you don't want spoilers, don't read the blocked out part to come:

I went into the movie originally with the same mentality that I had going into Halo: Reach, which was "Ok, I know there's a strong chance that all of these dudes are fucked, so it's a question of when and how are they going to go out. Somehow, I think having that mentality made the movie much cooler. Admittedly, the only death in the movie that shook me a bit was the dude on the plane in the beginning with the torn artery who was freaking out and couldn't get up and the others were just like "yep, you're gonna die." That one was a bit unpleasant. But Liam's exit was fantastic and the ex-con with the "no mas" tattoo (forgot his name) had a really cool end too.

I liked this movie throughout the entire thing expect the ending where I thought there was going to be a great scene then it ends and I'm like wtf really? Besides the ending the movie was excellent.

I think the ending made the movie for me, I didn't watch the trailer so I wasn't sure as to was this movie was about, but he's such a good actor I went with it. I think the constant presence of a threat was what made it better, there are plenty of films like this but this one just had something extra. Also, I know it's picking at something that doesn't need to be picked at, but you only see them eating twice. and I'm sure this went over 4 or 5 days, so those guys that made it to the end MUST have been working of off fumes and been so tired.

Next bit is kind spoiler so don't read if you haven't read this.

I think the most surprising death was when the black guy died, I think it would have been even better if they had kept him alive for the next part where they cross the ridge, it would have brought up a massive ultimatum and big the choice because there is no way he would have got across without breaking the rope. Although if he had, he might have been able to save the guy with glasses, and that would have made the movie slightly longer, or having to add in another section where one of the dies.

It was a fine movie. I liked that main guy in Taken, more. The only scene I liked the most was when he gets out to kill himself.

It was a good movie, but I was looking for a more action-involved definitive ending. Liam Neeson is the biggest badass ever though.

I just loved the transition from his state of mind at the beginning ( him wanting to kill himself ), to the end, him trying to survive.

Also, did everyone catch the 10 second clip after the credits?

It's very short, but it references the scene at the start where he has shot the wolf and is standing over it watching it die. The scene also leaves it up to you whether or not he dies.

I didn't stay when I saw it theatrically, but I actually looked for one when I got it on DVD.

That being said, I obviously liked the movie if I own it. I was immediately interested in the way the story was playing out, and I think that it was criticized more than it deserved. That being said, I can think of two deaths off the top of my head that felt meaningless and like they were wasted, where the majority of the important ones (after they leave the crash site) felt meaningful and impacted me. All in all, excellent film.

I think this is the film that began me and my friends' obsession with Liam Neeson. We already knew he was awesome, but this sealed the deal.

Is it weird that I'm really glad he was allowed to use his weird American-Irish accent he has? It's my favourite, and he always has to cover it.

I really did like this movie, and I was really on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love the misdirection with his wife too, I didn't see that coming.
They were really good at making you feel for the characters as they died too (mainly the guy with the glasses, and that jerk with the just sat down )

I showed this movie to my sister. My sister cannot watch any movie in which an animal is hurt. I told her that I would warn her when they hurt a wolf so she could close her eyes and not watch that scene. I forgot at the beginning when Liam Neeson shoots the wolf and she got really upset saying, "You are showing me a movie about a man that kills wolves? I hope those wolves rip him to pieces."
Well, by the end of the movie when Liam Neeson is facing off with the Alpha Wolf, taping the knife and broken bottles to his hand she started yelling, "KILL THAT WOLF! KILL THOSE STUPID MOTHER F***ERS!" It was really amusing to see her change from hoping all the humans would die to hoping they would kill all the wolves.

Last point:
"Once more into the fray,
Into the last good fight I'll ever know.
Live and die on this day,
Live and die on this day."

Wow, I get goosebumps when he says that at the end.

(OK, I don't want to be that guy, but isn't it called, The Grey?
