Getting Laid offI hate it. this is the longest job I have ever had (I know its sad) As I have been working here for 6 months exactly. What do I do? I am a call center representative for a national Cellphone company in Canada (where I live). The company is Rogers. Ok, I am actually a 3rd Party Customer Service Representative who is contracted with Rogers.
Last week, there was an Operations Meeting. I found this to be quite odd because I have never heard of this, I thought it was because my 6 months of employment was coming up, but turns out other people had the same meeting. When we got there, our site Director was there and it took him an hour to deliver the news.
When I first heard the news I was stunned. I didn't know how to feel. Emotions were swimming in me everywhere. I felt betrayed, insulted, anger, sadness and confusion. I still do not quite know how I feel about it but I know it sucks.
Believe it or not, I actually enjoy this job. The people I work with are actually great people and fun to be with. My Team Manager is such a great guy, I find he is so talented in psyching you up and getting you all happy and feeling great. Even the people on the phone are pretty fun to talk to, although I am getting sick of the joke "You can call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner"
Overall, the layoff is only supposed to last for about 3 months, but I have heard horror stories before where a company lays off alot of its employees and never hires them back, which is what I am afraid of. I hope it all goes well...
