This achievement isn't actually as hard as it sounds. I had never seen an extermination before I got the mythic maps but I have since gotten 3 exterminations on the mythic maps.
1) Team Swat on Orbital. Takes a bit of luck as you need to get the whole other team there at one time, but if you have a quick trigger finger (and your opponents are a little lacking there) then you CAN get it. 2) Team Slayer on Sandbox. Again took a little bit of luck (don't they always?) but I got this fairly easily in the Chopper. I just circled the base and splattered all 4 members of the other team as they tried to cross to engage my team members. 3) Grifball on Grifbox. The Mythic Grifball map. Either spawn kill or charge in after guys and hope that your teammates can keep everyone else dead.
Best advice I think is to not stress over getting the extermination. You'll get it eventually. Once you've got it, then you can enjoy the sweet, sweet sound of a legitimate beep boop.
ok whoever keeps saying "can't get this until the maps come out" i think we notice that. a new grifball map would be great though, something simple and fancy but if someone tries to cheat, bungie will come after them pobably like they hve been but swat would be the easiest way for this
Exterminations aren't something you can just go out and get like most other achievements. It usually happens sponaniously. This will probably be one of the last achievements most people get. If only there was a Sandbox-only grifball playlist...
I'm going to have to agree with FireDragons, that those three game variants are the easiest ways to get this achievement. I got it playing Swat on Orbital, while the other team was running down the hall in a straight line.
To those of you still trying to get this achievement for whatever reason. It's really easy. I got this accidentally by playing Grifball on this past Double EXP weekend (I even got the "Have Fun Respawning" achievement as a bonus). It just so happened that it was on the seventh day of the month, so I could also nab the 7 on 7 achievement.
If you're not a great grifball player (or a great Halo player), here's what I suggest:
1) Play a couple of games. Get used to the lag involved with XBox Live. You need to hammer/sword people a little before you normally would on splitscreen or a system link.
2) Make sure you have the mythic map pack. Some people try to get this on the double experience weekends without the map pack because they figure that sandbox maps will be included for anyone.
3) Look out for the Mayan Sandbox map and gametype. You will normally be in groups where not everyone has the mythic map pack. Because of this, you may be stuck on foundry a couple of times. Don't worry about this. Just play the games, have fun, and collect your double exp.
4) Once you get that game and map, you'll notice that most people are jumping around out of confusion. The edges of the map are elevated, while the center remains at the bottom of the cliff. Basically, it'll look like this (image may be distorted after I post this):
There are two "goals" on each side as opposed to the usual two. The four goals are placed sideways and are suspended in the air. Most people either don't understand the concept of jumping and scoring or just don't notice the goals because no one scores, generally, until someone else shows them how it's done.
5) Although you may be tempted, don't score. The ball will roll to the center of the map each time it's dropped on one of the slopes. Once it rolls down, grab the ball and wait for the opposing team to charge at you. They should be respawning at different intervals, since most people are getting kills because no one knows how to score yet.
6) Once they get close enough, melee them with the ball. It's so easy! Since they're spawning 3 seconds between each other, you can kill them one by one without the others seeing what's going on to prevent their deaths. You can easily get more than a killtacular with this method.
This isn't how I got my achievement, but I was surprised how many kills I got by doing this a few games after I got my achievements for the day.
I hope this helps! Again, most people should have it by now, seeing that the last comment on this achievement was posted 9 months ago, but this helped me kill time.
Enjoy!
[Note: I am not saying that I relied on Grifball to get this achievement. Please don't negatively mod me because you think that I don't have skill. I'm not saying that I could easily get this, otherwise, but it's difficult to do this on the mythic maps, just because of the way they're laid-out. The legendary maps are much better for getting this achievement, but that's just not how it works.]
Sorry, I posted my guide thinking that this was for the killtacular achievement. Even though it's addressed incorrectly, it still works for this achievement.
OK, so I've gotten both this and killtacular in the same game, and I have found it to be very easy on action sack. Keep vetoing maps till you get 2 flag shottys on orbital, try to make your way to their flag room and just camp out they usually tend to spawn close to each other, and shields are lower so you can still pull off 1 hit kills even from a distance. Equipped with grenades this achievement becomes fairly easy
ALSO keep in mind action sack DOES NOT affect your social game count, and you do not lose, or gain xp so don't even worry about winning your matches just keep trying to obliterate the other team =D GOOD LUCK
People say that it will be easy to get on Grifball on Grifbox.....sure, exterminations happen more frequently in Grifball, but they don't happen ALL THE TIME. To make matters worse, Grifball only occurs in the Team Mythic playlist 4.6% of the time (I got that statistic from Bungie's website). Your only sure way to get it without any luck is to get Grifball Double EXP weekend with Grifbox, but why would they do that? They already have a perfectly functioning Grifball map on Foundry.
Active Camo in conjunction with the entire team deciding to not go for our flag and instead defend theirs. And of course with a little help from my team distracting them.
This isn't that hard to get at all. The Grifball map on Sandbox counts, if you just swing a hammer randomly as someone arms the bomb, you get an extermination fairly often. I got this achievement, the first time it loaded up.
Hey im looking for 2-3 other people who are looking to get the mythic achievements. i have two other controllers so i can have 2 guests plus me. leaving only five more slots. If you are interested send me a message GT: H3BR3W B0Y (the o is a zero)
