The first place you can do this is when you are storming the mansion. I found it easier to do in the graveyard though. You have to fire until the orange part of the shield goes away, grab it and then fire until the guy's armor loses it's orange glow, then throw the shield back at him. It can be tricky, I screwed it up a bunch before I got it right.
