I'm really behind on this, but tomorrow is Joel's birthday!
I don't know if we'll be able to put together something like last year on such short notice, but I figured we could brainstorm some ideas for things we could do on the site at least
Since he's (theoretically) going to Vegas, I don't think waiting until Monday to send a gift/do something special would be totally amiss. So that gives us a bit more time.
So since we have more time, what do we think about maybe sending another Edible Arrangement like last year? Or should we try to for something different? I know SailorTweek is collecting money for a Starbucks gift card, but I'd like to send something specifically from the group as well
In reply to magickfox, #4: I love the Edible Arrangements idea. Maybe something that the rest of the office won't eat before it actually gets to Joel? *LOL*
Haha, true, but I think the problem last time was that he took the day off and wasn't there to protect his gift when it arrived lol. Maybe we should do something with more chocolate covered stuff this time though since that was what everyone (Burnie) stole last time, so hopefully he can at least get some of it before someone (Burnie) steals it all again
Ok so I just priced some of the Edible Arrangements stuff for us, the bouquets start at $29 and the fruit boxes start at $25 so we could do either one of those. Then delivery is $12 and any extra stuff starts at $10, maybe a teddy bear like last year or they also have balloons.
So overall we're looking at around $40 at least, so for just 3 of us it'll start at around $13 each, which isn't too bad really
So I've been looking at the edible arrangements site again and it looks like the fruit boxes are probably the better deal, they start at $25 and have 12 pieces. If we go with a box, I think one of the mixed ones with either apples, oranges, and strawberries or apples, bananas, and strawberries would be a good idea. I really like the fruit bouquets too, but the cheapest ones are $29 and they look pretty small and most everything else is over $40.
Also, when should we have our gift sent to the office? I was thinking maybe Monday or Tuesday if we can get everything decided on and collect the money by then
IMO, we should just get a box but add on a bear or balloon or something. There are Birthday Balloons for $3.50 each, and small bears for $12. We gave him a bear last year and (as I posted, I think) he says he still has it on his bed, so it'd be cool to give him another more permanent thing. And, of course, no one will eat the balloon/bear before he gets there.
I agree, I'd rather spend less on the box (which will come with more in it than the bouquets anyways) and get a bear or something. And if we get a $25 box we can always get a different type of stuffed animal than the small bear since we'll have more money for it. They have a lot of different stuff like dogs, elephants, cows, penguins, etc (my vote goes for penguin, the small is $7 and the medium is $18 )
I'm looking around for alternate ideas (just for the sake of coming up with something new, really) and found this as another food-type gift, and this, which I think is a sort of neat idea. Still looking around, though. (^>^)
ETA: If we go with Edible Arrangements, I think we should get this one and the personalized note should be "Fuck off, Burnie, these are for Joel."
Personally I really like the Edible Arrangements, mostly because it seems like it's the one we can personalize the most, but if you two want to do something else, I'll be happy too :)
I was going to suggest that truffle box too because it looks delicious, but I forgot I guess lol, and I love the note idea
XD Agreed. We should really place the order today, though, guys. So who's going to do it, and what are we going to include? And I say we have it arrive Tuesday for the highest chance he'll be around.
Agreed. I can place the order if we want, or either of you can if you'd like, it really doesn't matter lol, we just need to figure out what we're doing and how much it'll all cost.
I think we may need to change our gift idea though, because I'm looking at the Edible Arrangements for RT's zip code (78748) and there is no truffle gift box available, unless I've overlooked something somehow....
I'd love for you to handle the order, if you're willing. And as for the truffles, I think you're right that they don't have that box in their area. This one is only four dollars more, though.
Edit: Actually, if you just go to the link of the other one, it's letting me choose any of the nearby stores. Their website's a bit confusing. :\
That one is fine with me if that's what you guys want, I was leaning more towards boxes because they look like they come with more than the bouquets do, but I love the truffles too.
And I'd be more than happy to handle the order :) My paypal is abyrne287@gmail.com
I love those mixed boxes, how about we see how much everything else is going to be and then decide which box we want?
And I really like the message, I was thinking though, should we put "Love, The "I Would Totally F**k Joel" Group admins" or just "Love, The "I Would Totally F**k Joel" Group"?
Ok so, if we want to do another stuffed animal, the small bears are $10 and the large bears are $20 (apparently the stores in Austin don't have the huge selection that the store near me has )
Happy birthday balloons are $3.50 a piece, or $10 for a bundle of them if we want to add balloons too (personally I'm not a huge fan of balloons, but if you guys want them then I'll be more than happy to order them )
Even if we get the $29 bouquet, the $20 bear, and the $10 balloon bundle, we'd still only owe about $24 each :)
I'd say the whole group, but we can put our three usernames below, if you want.
And I say just one of the small bears and balloons, or a large bear and no balloons. But I'm bad at making decisions so I'll leave the choice up to you. ^>^;
Personally I like the idea of the larger bear since we sent a small one last year (wouldn't want to send the exact same one twice, haha), and we could always send the one balloon for $3.50 instead of the big bunch of them
The larger bear works. There are the Berry and Daisy bears, too, which I think are $12 each. I believe we sent a regular one last year, so I was thinking maybe we'd do one of those this year, if you want. Of course, a huge teddy bear to huggle Joel while he sleeps is also a good choice. XD
One of those would be good too, I just wish they had actual pictures of each choice, I hate not knowing what I'm sending But I like the idea of another small bear, if we keep this going for a few years Joel will have an entire herd of small stuffed bears XD I think my one complaint about those bears is that they look a little girlier since they're holding flowers and things, but it is a stuffed bear so it's not exactly masculine in the first place lol
So as of now we've decided on some sort of bear (possibly one of the small Berry or Daisy ones) and did we want the bouquet or the mixed chocolate box? As soon as we decide I'll let you guys know the final price and make the order :)
