Halo WarsI recently purchased myself a copy of the Halo based real time strategy game Halo Wars.
As many people know this game is a whole new take on the beloved franchise that helped skyrocket the Xbox into the major success it is today. Halo Wars is a built from the gound up console RTS which helps it control scheme and play style. I found myself coming into the experince saying it will be just another RTS with a halo sticker slapped on, but to my immense suprise, it is an extremely fun game as far as any game is concerned. For example, day 1 of playing I planned on playing 1 or 2 co-op missions with a friend online, I ended up playing all day co-op and online multiplayer. This game is very addicting from the time you open the box this is due to the story which helps relate the Halo book series to video game world.
The main chunk of your time spent in this game will be spent in the online multiplayer which was very well developed by the Ensemble team that pits you in 1v1's, 2v2's, & 3v3's with massive potential for choices and strategys. 2 buddies and I were in an online game that lasted well over an hour long because of the massive struggle to take over the many bases and units throughout each of the 15 maps. Overall I feel as though Halo wars was a nice change of pace in the age of the FPS and deserves a chance even if RTS' aren't your favorite form of Video games.
