About this Komen thingOkay, fist off, while I appreciate the historical and amazing amount of money that the Komen Foundation has given to breast cancer research over the years, I have never supported the institution because I feel that it is too commercialized for its own good. I believe in direct contribution to charities, rather than thru third-party institutions.

While I do not support the institution, that doesn't mean I cannot support its decision. I happen to believe that the reason they have pulled their funding is because Planned Parenthood is under Congressional investigation due to misuse of funds, and that some of these funds come from the Komen foundation. It is the same reason why a lot of my friends stop giving to any charity, and yet when someone else does it, they are the villains.
I don't know, maybe it is just me. I for one will be happy to see a lot of self-righteous people put away their pink shirts (though I know a lot of other people are putting them on for the same reason), since personally, prostate cancer research is more important to me (seriously, more men die per year of prostate cancer than there are total new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in both genders, yet one gets all the attention...).
UPDATE: It would appear that just after I posted this, CNN has broken with the story that the Komen Foundation has reversed its position, and is going to renew the funding to Planned Parenthood.
