27 year-old female from Macon, GA
I've lived all over the world as an Airman in the United States Air Force. Recently I separated from the Air Force to pursue a college education. Right now I'm going to school full time to earn a History degree. My future goal is to become a college professor teaching history (preferably American history). If you want to be my friend that's great but talk to me first. I do not accept any friend requests from anyone under the age of 18 and I do not accept any random friend requests.

packing list

So I'm working on a packing list for my girl scout troop camping trip, but I feel like I've forgotten something. I figured maybe you guys would see something I've missed. Let me know what you think.

Packing list for camping trip:

Sleeping bag (or set of sheets and a blanket)
Pillow
Pajamas
Change of clothes
Rain poncho or rain jacket (no umbrellas)
Bug repellent (no aerosols)
Plain t-shirt of any color (we will be decorating them with puffy paint to complete a try-it)
Sweatshirt or light jacket for night time
Closed toe shoes (no flip-flops or sandals)
Reusable water bottle
Toiletries:
Washcloth
Hand towel
Soap to wash face with
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Lotion (unscented doesn’t attract as many bugs)
Any other item needed and not listed

Optional items:

Teddy bear or something similar to sleep with
Card or board games
Sun screen

Please leave at home:

All electronics (game boys, ipods, etc) There will be plenty of activities to keep the girls busy and if they bring something like this it could get broken, misplaced, etc and we don’t want that.

If you have a question about what to bring (or leave home) please call.

Please have everything clearly marked with your daughter’s name in case items get mixed up inside the tent.

If your daughter is on any medication please enclose it into a sandwich or quart sized zip-top bag with name and clear instructions on how it is to be dispensed.

I have never heard if it's easy or hard I just heard there can be opportunities and if you want to try something it never hurts to try for it.

Thanks! The way I looked at it even if I don't get my to pick or if I do and it's not what I want there are always chances to cross train. I will probably ask you some questions when I get my AFSC.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I was confused. Not an issue for a blond, but still perplexing at the time...

Hello to you too. I have spent a better part of the evening pondering what to say to you in answer to your question. My Mom and Dad did a wonderful job of hiding Mom's dementia from us. Only after my Dad passed away, did we realize what a problem we had. Mom in Northern New Hampshire, me in Western New York, sisters in DC and Delaware. I can't tell you how many times I had to drop things and rush eight hours to NH to solve a problem. Even sent Havoc up there for a summer to watch over her while my sisters and I tried to formulate a plan. I know the dilemma you face and the feelings you have well. I'll try to have some insight for you tomorrow. Good hearing from you.

In reply to knuckles, #23:
Just out of curiousity, what's your rational behind telling me to stay in GA?

Look, it stinks when family gets sick - been there, hell, doing it now, sort of. Putting your life on hold will end up making you resent a whole lot of stuff, and be worse for everyone, not just you. There's plenty of people who can help take care of family - and they should understand that you can't rip your own life up and make it revolve around them.

Relatively frequent visits home (every 3 months or so), can let you keep reasonable tabs on the goings on & so forth, without completely destroying your life.

Yeah, it is fairly simple stuff. Unfortunately my condition of Asperger Syndrome has left me with under-developed mathematical capabilities. So take that in to account with my lack of Math classes, it makes it a little difficult for me to understand what's on the test in the AR and MK sections.

Remember your painting episodes and how we both hated painting especially under pressure? Several months ago, my granddaughter called and asked if I would come down and repaint her room. One day while at school, the baby came into her room and did quite a decorating job with crayon and pencil. I just finished painting her room again and hope that the old paint hasn't faded much. I am really not into detail work at the moment. The upstairs hall and stairwell are another story. I told the kids if I saw as much as a pencil mark on anything, EVERYONE in the house would be spanked. The four year old got a bit upset and asked if that meant Mommy and Daddy also. When I told him EVERYONE again, you could have heard a pin drop. Did I ever mention how much I hate painting????
