Inglourious Basterds (among other rants)One thing I enjoy a lot is going to the theater to watch a film. The smell of popcorn, the Sour Patch Kids, and the annoying workers there. I just got home from the midnight premiere of Inglourious Basterds (yes that is how it's spelled). Instead of coming out and telling you how I felt about the movie, I need to say a few things about what happened before the movie.
First off, the theater I went to would ID everyone. Not just the marginal looking viewers. You walk up with a cane, wrinkly skin, and a Vietnam veteran hat on, you better make sure you have your ID with you. It was absolutely ridiculous. One person who came with me does not have an ID. They don't drive, and don't travel, and have never needed to get one. They are 18 years old, and look plenty old enough to watch an R rated film. The person at the front counter would not let them in. After that fiasco, they got a ride home and a few of us proceeded to the theater. At the door is a person checking tickets...understandable. He then asks for our ID's. Everyone had their ID checked twice. I just bought the ticket, why the fuck do I have to show the ID again. I voiced my anger to him and he said it was the policy, then buried his face in his chest in shame.
Next, the previews come on. I saw the same Friday's BYOB(uddy) ad three times. That just made me not want to go there. Then comes the actual previews and to make the night even shittier, it is for Halloween 2 - Rob Zombie Style. Can people please leave classic horror films alone. The unaware populous today will only watch these newer movies and think they are original. I had the girl next to me say, "I didn't realize Michael Myers had a sister."
WHAT? That is the whole point of the movie, and they failed to understand that. Then there is the Friday the 13th remakes that are just plain garbage. It's like people say, "That movie was so awesome back then, lets try to redo it for now. It totally wont suck!" Shitty movies piss me off, but shitty remakes of great movies just bother me to no end. It's like a modern artist trying to repaint the Mona Lisa. It can't be done.
Then comes the movie, and it was amazing. It had an old west type of feeling, only placed in Nazi-controlled France. The acting was great, and Quentin Tarantino did an outstanding job creating this story. Some people wont like it cause the viewer doesn't feel like part of the movie. It plays out more like a book with chapters breaking apart sections of the plot. I found that to be the part that made the movie work so well. It has humor in it that takes place in the situations, rather than trying to pound comedy into the viewers face like most movies. I highly recommend watching this movie.
Earlier today I rented Avatar from Blockbuster with that nifty Summer Escape Week Pass where I get unlimited rentals for $10. I get online, get the 1000 GS and I'm feeling pretty good about myself. Then the unheard of happened:
Xbox Live went down!
Microsoft is punishing the masses for me being an achievement whore and playing this game. I would like to apologize to everyone who was playing a game, watching a show, or just enjoying a friendly conversation with a buddy. My bad.
LeBron mother fucking JamesLeBron James hits quite possibly the biggest shot in Cleveland Cavalier history with 1.0 seconds left in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Using the NBA's "Where Amazing Happens" style, I made a video of the shot.

Heresay Game from Burnie's JournalLet's play a game. Think of the most popular TV show or movie that you are completely unfamiliar with. If it's a TV show, you should have never seen a single episode of it. Then, try to explain in very specific detail what happens on that show based on what you remember from previews and people talking about it. Don't try to be cute or funny, just try to describe everything you know about the show. Try to give as much detail about specific plot points as you can. Here's mine:
Lost
There is a group of people who were on a plane, and the plane crashed on an island. The island is deserted and this doctor like person takes charge of everybody and helps them out. There is a shadow monster on the island, and also a polar bear, which is amazing to them considering polar bears are in cold weather, not sunny death islands. At one point, some of the people get off the island, and the people are all connected in some way. Then the island does some Back to the Future shit and travels through time. They are in the 70's sometime during this time travel. Then, the people who got off the island go back to the island because they most love being stranded in the middle of the ocean.
WowI am awake this late on a school night doing massive amounts of homework and for once I am glad that I am still awake. I finished my work about an hour ago, but I am still awake.
Why you may ask?
Syracuse vs. UConn
As I type Syracuse is trailing 106-108 in the 5th Overtime! A Big East record. This is the longest game in Big East history. There is 1:13 left in the overtime and I am going back to watch it. I advise you to do the same.
The Quest to 30,000As much as i hate to admit it, I will be taking part in an achievement contest over the summer. As of right now, the tentative mark my brother and I have set is 30,000 total gamerscore. At the moment, he holds a 1,400 point edge over me while I am flirting with 13,000. I will be signing up for Game Fly to give myself an edge over him, since he will be trying to find used games and borrowing them from friends, and I can just get them quickly over the internet.
I have a sort of plan to get my first few thousand by playing Avatar (pathetic, I know, but simple) and King Kong. Then I will move to some of the older basketball games I haven't played and get a lot of those ones as well. From there I don't know where to go. Any suggestions on easy games to get achievements, preferably around 500 per game very easily, would be greatly appreciated. I will be looking at what games Geoff played to get his quick 10,000 but any other help would be great. The winner will get a video game at the expense of the other player.
Merry Christmas? Two nights ago, my sister came up to my house that we could have a small Christmas with her and her daughters since they would not be here on Thursday. We open up all the presents, I got The Dark Knight, and then I hear my sister screaming for us in the basement. I walk down there only to be greeted by a massive flood. Apparently, the previous night, one of the pipes in my parents bathroom froze due to the sub-zero temperature. When the thing thawed out, it burst. So now we have water falling from the ceiling to the basement like a small waterfall. We shut off the water to stop the small cascade, then had to use the ShopVac to suck up the standing water in the basement.
With it being Christmas time, you can only imagine how hard it is to find a plumber. Finally, one was reached, and they are currently fixing the pipes to hopefully prevent this from happening again. I sure hope so, because I hate peeing in a bottle and having to drive 10 minutes to my grandparents to take a dump. My parents are staying in a hotel in town, but I wanted to stay here, in my bed, and with all of my stuff. I'm thinking that this problem will be resolved in the next hour, because the plumbers seem to know what they are doing and are working swiftly.
This is exactly how I pictured I would be spending Christmas Eve...
