RT Sidequest and RTXSo the guys at RT Sidequest have a great offer.

Once again it's a great concept where proceeds go to charity, and also helps all of the RTX attendees who are fearful of experiencing the flavors of Austin, to encourage them to stay away from the typical chains.

As a longtime RTer, and an Austinite (I'm from Houston, but spend a large chunk of my adult life in Austin), I can attest to the many great places to dine and enjoy without the confines of the typical chains you'll definitely see around town.

If you listen to the podcasts, read the staff and crew's journals, you hear about some of these places, well this is your chance to see what Austin has to offer, and save a little with the Go Local card.

RTX GuidelinesRead these...got them down?
Good...NOW READ THEM AGAIN.

You're not entitled above other attendees. They paid for their badge and trip, just like you (unless your parents did, and if so, don't make me tell your mom and dad!)

Have fun, but don't be an ass.

RTX Guidelines

Whether this is your first Convention, or your 16th, it's important to know the Guidelines we have in place for RTX. If you do not follow these guidelines, Rooster Teeth staff, Guardians, and/or Convention Center staff have the right to remove you from the event without a refund.

1. After a panel is over, leave the room.
Every panel room will be cleared out after each panel. This means you cannot stay in a room after a panel is over in hopes of seeing the next one. If you refuse to clear the room, our staff will ask you to leave the event.

2. No line-cutting, no stealing, and no pushing, shoving, kicking, punching, hair pulling, or looking at people funny.
Seriously, be nice. Don't make us call your parents. If someone is bothering you or you notice suspicious activity, please alert a Guardian or Staff Member.

3. Respect our Guardians
Guardians are our Event Volunteers who have dedicated their weekend to help Rooster Teeth run a successful event. If they ask you to do something, or NOT to do something, please listen to them, and don't hesitate to say "thanks"!

4. No Weapons
No guns, swords, knives, clubs, or other weapon that may cause harm. Please be aware that if your cosplay includes a fake/simulated weapon, it may be subject to examination.

5. Have fun!
Look, we put in that "fake" rule that everyone always uses at the end of a list of rules. Only this time, it's real. You better have fun... or else.

Kingdom Hearts 3 on the Xbox OneSo I just heard that KH3 will be on the Xbox One. You know, I have slammed MS for the way they've handled things. Mostly with used games (saying one thing to appease fans, yet a policy that is realistically flexible to throw blame on publishers)...but the truth is, These two major issues really don't affect me.

Now with KH3 on the One, Twitch TV being integrated, and the XBL offering multiple free games monthly, I'm starting to teeter myself back towards the Xbox.

I think I was discussing with some on this site, but I would hope Sony really looks to integrate Indie gaming on the PS4 and the network, because for those disenfranchised Xbox fans, it'll solidify their justification in changing brands.

Oh yeah, and KINGDOM HEARTS 3, BITCHES!

It's one of only 250, done by Phantom City Creative.

Oh yeah, it also glows in the dark.

This has just turned into an epically awesome day.

The Green Lantern ChangeYesterday I read Green Lantern #20. And though it was a decent ending to the current major event in the GL mythos, I did feel a bit sad after finishing it.

You see, Geoff Johns has been at the helm of the Green Lantern titles (Which include Red Lanterns since it's part of their universe), and after a nine year run, has finally wrapped up his tenure on the titles to handle other projects with DC on top of being the label's chief creative officer.

Green Lantern has always been a title I held dearest to my heart. I've read it since I was a little kid (yes @Indyrenegade, I was a kid once) and the modern concept of a human tasked with protecting the universe via a galactic police for, was well, cool.

More than anything, what I loved about the concept was that it was a bit of a reversal than Superman. He's an alien and the last of his kind, so he's out of place, searching for a connection with Earth. Hal Jordan was a plain earth man, but his daring and willpower allowed him to be the greatest of the lanterns.

Then they made major changes to the characters. Turning Hal Jordan into a villain, then killing him off. I appreciate in the late 80s/ early 90s it was a different time, with giant guns, huge pecks and ginormous jugs (not that there is anything wrong with that last one) meant characters needed to be modernized, and thus needed to be flawed.

Fine.

I still read on, and GL through it's cancellations, the characters cameos in other titles, was still one of my regular reads (my monthly comic pull has always been roughly 25/30 titles).

Then in 2004 Geoff Johns came aboard DC, and changed everything. He felt the need to bring back Hal Jordan, and thus "Rebirth" was an exciting arc for me. Like I said, Hal Jordan was always one of my favorite comic protagonists. His flaws mixed with his potential for greatness while being a simple man in a universe of bigger and stronger creatures was fascinating.

Then Johns kept the ball rolling after "Rebirth". He expanded the entire GL Corp and the GL mythos. It was a war of light. It created new villains and heroes, and John's expanded on The Guardians and their place in the history of creation.

Well, the last two major arcs, "The Rise of the Third Army" and "The Wrath of The First Lantern" weren't as spectacular as you might have though they would be, and their climaxes both left a bit to be desired, but when it comes to Johns' works, it's always about the payoff from the long term effects of the writing.

He brought back Swamp Thing. Who doesn't love The Swamp Thing?

Anyway, I know Johns won't stay away forever from The Green Lantern, because after a nearly 10 year run on all the books, he'll find it hard to complete remove himself, and hopefully he'll once again get a chance to expand on the legacy of the GL Corp and Hal Jordan.
