RWBY has finally won me over.As someone who disliked volume one of RWBY, from the often poor animation to the wobbly voice acting and more (although I thought the show had a lot of promise, it just didn't manage to deliver on it for me), I was genuinely blown away by the first episode of volume two.
I had hoped that Monty and the team were just getting into the swing of things and that they would use the time between volumes one and two to make the improvements they realy needed to make.
And boy oh boy did they. The episode took the animation to new heights, had far better written and better flowing dialogue and excellent voice acting to match. It brought the humor in spades and managed to keep things simple and fun while still giving us some solid introductions to a bunch of new characters.
As a side note, around fifteen minutes is a really great length for the show. Last volume tried to stuff too much into such short episodes that I felt like I didn't have enough time to get to know most of the characters. So I hope that RWBY will at least aim for the ten minute mark for episodes from here on in. That said, this was the first episode so it's likely the rest will be shorter. I don't mind that, so long as they don't try to cram too much in.
Long story short, great job RT! You've managed to turn me around from barely willing to give volume two a chance to being genuinely exicted for the future of this show.
(Also, when was the last time I wrote anything on this site? I can't believe I came back to write good things about RWBY )
So what have I been up to you ask? (or maybe you didn't ask, in which case shut up and let me tell you anyway :P) Well aside from still being jobless, I've been hard at work writing a bunch of stuff including a new fantasy novel called 'The Six Swords' which I don't think I've mentioned in my journal before. Here's the ol' synopsis:
'Six people from very different walks of life are thrown together at the behest of a ancient and mysterious guardian, with the purpose of defending the kingdom of Auwen from a coming danger.'
I've just put the first five chapters of The Six Swords up on my Wattpad page, so you can check it out if you're interested, or just check it out anyway because I needs me plenty of feedback.
Meanwhile, the second draft of my screenplay 'Daylight' is on hold because I really needed a break from it. Hopefully I'll get back to that in the near future, but we'll see. It's hard to stick to one story when there's so many ideas floating around in your head.
Alrighty, that's all for now. Happy Valentines Day y'all!
Second draft and a few other things. It's been a long time coming but the second draft of my screenplay 'Daylight' is a third of the way done. You can read the new and improved Act I over on Wattpad, along with all my other work right here.
Also, I know I haven't been very active on the site recently and I'm sorry about that. Things are surprisingly chaotic considering I don't have a job right now. I can't promise to be around more often but I'll try my best!
Also also, big props to Miles and everyone at Rooster Teeth for RvB season 11. It was an awesome ride! Can't wait for season 12.
CatchupHey y'all. I've been a tad absent this week. I've been sick and bedridden for the most part, but I'm feeling a ton better now and I'll be getting back into things a little more. Expect to see more of me in chat, basically :P
So first order of business: Be watching this space and the space over on my Wattpad for news of my new story! The six are coming...
Episode 10Just a small theory. I wonder if the mysterious guy at the end was stranded too, explaining why he was alone in the swamp a few episodes ago and it could also explain why he said "Unfortunate" - he was disappointed he went all that way after hearing the rescue plans over the radio and the ship didn't even stay to pick them up. (If he is a bad guy, maybe he was hoping to steal it?)
P.S: Haven't come up with any RvB theories in ages, I forgot how fun it was xD
