Updateratering
Oh hay guys.
It's been about a month since I've done any sort of meaningful update here, so while it's 3:30am and I can't think of anything better to do, I thought I'd give it a crack.
I'm doing really well reviewing and stuff for themetalforge.com Last week I was given the opportunity to interview Markus Grosskopf, one of the founding members of Helloween. So at about 8:20pm Friday night I got a call from a Sony rep, who put me onto Markus all the way in Germany. I was nervous as fuck, but I did a decent job for my first interview.
I was supposed to also interview Paradise Lost vocalist Nick Holmes on Tuesday, but I got an email that afternoon that they'd cancelled all interviews for the day, I don't know why, and the Century Media rep told me that they'd reschedule, but it just seemed like cold comfort.
Last week I received an email about doing a Mastodon interview. I was incredibly keen for this, but it was only a potential thing, and I didn't think I was gonna get it, since I responded to the email on my dinner break at work. However, the week after on Tuesday it was confirmed that I was to interview a member of Mastodon, and I didn't find out until today (erm, technically yesterday) that I was to interview their drummer Brann Dailor. I was really impressed with how this turned out, the rep gave me a 20 minute time limit on the interview, and I managed to do about 18 minutes, which translated into about 5 pages of material I had a lot of fun, and Brann is such an interesting dude to listen to.
However, there's always bad news. I've been put on academic probation at university because I failed by prac subject last semester. That pretty much means the uni can tell me what subjects I do, and I have to do exactly those otherwise I risk being expelled. This sucks for a myriad of reasons. A)I no longer wish to pursue a degree in education, and am just keen to get enough credit points for a General Studies degree, before switching to another faculty B)This may force me to do subjects I'm not comfortable doing, ie curriculum units which are bothersome and stressful and pretty much require you to be on a prac (which is the assumption when taking them) to pass.
I've emailed my co-ordinator about it, but knowing how long it takes for a reply to be written, I'm expecting something in the middle of next week. It's frustrating : /
Also, I FUCKING TURN 21 NEXT WEEK HOLY SHIT. I'll be an adult, sure, 21 doesn't have huge significance over here, where the drinking age is 18, but it'll just make me feel that much less of a child.
Anyway, 'sup with you guys?

Big Day Out 2k10
One reason I went, and she's a stage whore, she commands the floor, rocks you harder than a martyr in a holy war.
How close were we?
(That's my hand with the wristband, and the freakishly long looking nail, which is just reflection)
Jesus walked on water. Peaches walks on you. I now get to brag that I held up Peaches when she walked on the crowd, and I touched her butt when she stage dived. It is firm.

Album of the year 2k9
Some peeps have been doing this shit, and I thought I'd join in. However I'm still being given shit from last year to review, and I've really been impressed by some of the stuff I've been given, so here's just a rough list of what I liked from last year. Feel free to remind me of shit if I've forgotten.
And Kyle, no, I don't like Crack The Skye, so I'm not putting it here.

o hai
It's been a busy few days here.
The thing I'm most excited about is that I'm now a reviewer for a metal website (themetalforge.com). I was really excited when I checked my email and found out I got it. I've already sent in a couple of reviews, and I've got a third one to send in. The editor's a bit backed up at the moment so it'll be a while before any of my stuff is up on the site. I volunteered to take in all the prog stuff, seeing as no-one else who writes for the site is interested in that shit and the first thing I was given to review was Pain of Salvation's 'Linoleum' EP, so I was a little stoked about that. I really look forward to reviewing more stuff, and the editor's even put me on the list for interviews. So a few free albums/concerts coming my way will be sweet.
Christmas and boxing day were pretty rad. My brother got me Oblivion With Guns, which is a surprisingly good game. I snagged a few things with a gift voucher at the boxing day sales. Kylesa's and Baroness' latest albums, and the movie Teeth, which I'd already seen but fuck it was great. The ladyfriend never EVER intends to watch it, and I don't blame her. Shit's brutal, I highly recommend it.
On the 27th a few mates organised a pub crawl along the somewhat infamous Logan Road, of which there are 10 pubs across its whole length. My girlfriend, a couple of other mates and I were wretchedly hungry by about the 3rd pub, so grabbed lunch there while the others moved onto the 4th and we'd meet them at the 5th which was right across from it. We'd set a 2 drink minimum at each stop, So in order to match them we just got jagerbombs at the next stop.
Also managed to get my girlfriend to try her first white russian, she loved it. I think it's time to invest in steady supplies of vodka and kahlua. The Dude would abide.
Anyway, I'm not the most steady person while intoxicated, a small group of us wandered over to McDonalds at the 9th stop and I recall asking if they could make me some kind of 8 pounder, and I remember the service girl looking at me with equal amounts of humour and "what the fuck, guy?". After that we managed to make it to the last stop, I stole $16 in change from one of my mates, had my drinks and pissed off. Witnessed another friend shout out "TURTLE POWER" before walking away and spewing every metre, but not stopping. Surprisingly when we got home, I was fine, but my girlfriend had to purge herself before we could sleep.
So, 'sup?

O hi thar Secret Santa
Picked up a parcel before starting work yesterday. And what do I see?
I WONDER WHO THIS COULD BE FROM?
(addresses edited with awesome paint skills, 1000 hours in MS paint btw)
There was some green bubblewrap too, it is glorious.
<3
The card talked about the two presents I was about to receive, one of them being SO METAL! and the other about my upcoming donation. This is the SO METAL! one. And it is indeed SO METAL!
They're both named Fred.
<3 I will totally proudly display this and take a photo when I am bald.
However, there's still 12 hours of work ahead of me before Christmas, tonight is the midnight shift. Here's how happy I was last night.
THANK YOU VICKY FOR BEING AWESOME~!~!~!
