the rock reportThe ultimate report on rock.
INTRO- There are many types of genres pertaining to music. I will be talking to you about rock. There are many types of rock from famous artists like ozzy to less famous like Gerard way. Iv done some research in the field of rock and will be telling you today about when rock began and what it is today.
DEF- Rock music is a form of popular music with a prominent vocal melody, accompanied by guitar, drums, and bass. Now what does this mean to us? It means that rock is a music with a distinguisht sound that only a guitar a drum and a bass can provide.
FIRST POINT- The rock movement began in Brittan known there as trade jazz. It featured the same instruments as we know today. The most famous British artist at that time was David Bowie. From there it came to us in the year 1955 where an artist named chuck berry played it. Berry was a black man playing black music. But white kids were listening to the rhythm and blues throughout the United States and white musicians were playing the same rhythm and blues. The music people soon understood that there was a white market for black music among the ever-changing tide of music. Rock and roll was an overnight success. Elvis Presley was the most famous rock musician of that time. Then 1966, artists Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, the Doors, frank zappa caused a huge revolution in a g music scene. In 1976, the “new wave†or punk-rock genre of rock caused a similar revolution in a similarly scene; and in 1987 through the year 1988, the years when Pixies, and Fugazi, invented indie-pop. Each of these ages was followed by a new generation of rock in which creativity was replaced by sell-out concerts and the rockers rebellion against the “manâ.
Second point- Today rock music is about what people are feeling. What happened in there past, and what might happen in the future. Rock music may have begun years ago but in my opinion its today’s bands that shape what it will be in the future. Just like yesterdays bands shaped what it is today. Many types of different rock exist today but the newest is what is known as nu metal. Nu metal is a rock category that emerged in the 1990s, which comes from grunge and alternative metal. Nu metal music uses mood, rhythm, and texture with melody. Often, nu metal songs use rhythmic, syncopated riffs played on distorted electric guitars with strings tuned to lower pitches to create a dark and thick sound. Bands today that fit into this category would be P.O.D. and Koßn.
There are many different rock bands today that it would make your head spin. But not all of them are well know like korn, linkoln park, black sabbeth etc… but there are also band such as sabaton, blind guardian, and rhaphsidy that not many people know about.
Conclusion- in conclusion you have heard about the beginings of rock, and what it is today and I hope that you take away something from this presintation.
