Moon

Moon was my favorite movie from 2009 (I've seen most of the big name flicks of '09, yet to see Avatar though). I first saw it sometime in October or November after having wanting to see it all summer but never getting the chance to.

Yesterday I got a free bluray player with a new HDTV, and I decided to pick up a couple movies (but dang Bluray is pricey don't think I'll be buying too many @ $30 each for new releases at Best Buy). Having already seen everything there was on sale I decided on The Hurt Locker and Moon. Both very good movies IMO (in a year where most movies have been Meh), I was torn between getting Star Trek or The Hurt Locker because I was already decided on getting Moon (there was only one copy left so that kinda also pushed my decision) I figured not getting two spacey movies just to vary it a bit.

So I rewatched Moon with my mom last night, and that movie it just stays with you in your mind, from the isolation of the main character (played very well by Sam Rockwell) to the haunting soundtrack which was done by Clint Mansell (always does amazing movie soundtracks). What I found interesting was my mom told me the same thing today that the movie was in her thoughts all day. To me the sign of a good flick, makes you think and stays with you.

Its not a long movie or over done with special effects, it was done by a smaller studio IIRC. But it looks and feels great, the lunar landscapes look great especially in 1080p.

What is your favorite movie from the past year or so?

Haifisch (Shark)

I like this song and its lyrics, which I think are sappy and cool at the same time.

English Translated Lyrics
We stick together
We endure one another
We hold onto one another
No one holds us back

We stay faithful to you
We firmly hold onto that
And obey the rules
If you leave rules to us*

And the shark, that has tears
And they run from the face
But the shark lives in water
So no one can see the tears

We keep our speed
We keep our word
If one can’t keep up
Then we immediately stop

We keep our eyes open
We hold each other by the arm
Six hearts that burn
The fire keeps you warm

And the shark, that has tears
And they run from the face
But the shark lives in water
So no one can see the tears

In the deep it is lonely
And so many a tear is shed
And it so happens that the water
In the oceans is salty

You can think of us
Whatever you want
We get compensation
We never keep still

And the shark, that has tears
And they run from the face
But the shark lives in water
So no one can see the tears

In the deep it is lonely
And so many a tear is shed
And it so happens that the water
In the oceans is salty

And the shark, that has tears
And they run from the face
But the shark lives in water
So no one can see the tears
