You all see where this is going, right? PAX East is upon us once again (It seriously feels like PAX South was not even 2 weeks ago), and I'm in need of lodging once again! I promise one of these days I'll write a journal that's not hotel related, but for now, I must beg.
I know there's a pretty large number of you coming to PAX East this year, so with any luck I'll be able to find a room with some time to spare for a change. If you or someone you know has some extra room in your hotel for PAX next weekend, please let me know and/or send them my way! I'm more than willing to pay for my share of the room/pizza/taxis/booze/etc., and I always try my best to take up as little space as possible, which is pretty easy when I'm able to travel with just a carry-on and my backpack.
PAX South was a great weekend, and PAX East 2015 promises to be one of the best PAX's in memory! I can't get there without your help, and any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone! Y'all da best
As all of you are intimately familiar with by now, I suck at planning where I'm staying at cons ahead of time. I have a good reason this time around, I was not sure up until a day or so ago whether or not I would be going to PAX South at all, and I was just given the go-ahead to proceed with Operation PAX. So now, here I am making my standard journal begging people to let me sleep on their floor during the convention!
I know we've been on this road more times than I can count, but it's always appreciated when someone has a little extra space to let a Slayer stay. Of course I would pay for my share of the room, chip in for rides/pizza/beer, yadda yadda you know this spiel already. No need to tell me how much I suck at this, I'm already intimately familiar. So if you or someone you know has a little extra room for the weekend, please let me know! I'll most likely be arriving Thursday night and leaving by the time the con is over, but as you know my flight situation is very fluid so that could change depending on what works best for whomever I end up staying with. Thanks again everyone! Y'all da best
World's Worst at this; Need some help for RTXWell. Certainly has been awhile since my last journal post, eh? Last one I did was aaaaall the way back at RTX 2013! RTX is the main thing I want to talk about, because I'm in need of some assistance.
As some of you know, I can be either really good or really bad about making accommodation arrangements. The past 2 RTX's I was able to organize quite a few people into the townhouse just south of the Austin river, but for the past... several PAX's, I've tried asking around at the last minute to see if anyone had some spare room they could put me up in. Well, this year it's the latter for me; I still don't have a place to stay for RTX, and seeing as I'd like to be in town on the 1st, that's kiiiind of a problem for me.
Now I know some of you will chide me for putting something as important as this off until the VERY last second, but with all the insanity surrounding my life the past few months, it just kept coming up as "something I'll get around to later", we all know what that's like. Well, it's quite a bit past later at this point, and I need to do something about it.
So here's my open call. If anyone has some spare room to fit one extra Slayer for RTX this year, I'd be eternally grateful if you'd let me stay with you. Of course, I'd be perfectly willing to pay for my share of the room (or whatever you've got), chip in for pizza and taxi rides and the like. I was hoping to get in to Austin on the 1st and stay 'till around the 7th or 8th, so if that involves staying at multiple places I'm totally fine with that. I'm also going to be a Guardian this year, which will involve a LOT of work, so I most likely won't be at the room the vast majority of the time. If you or someone you know has some extra room at any point in that timeframe, please send them my way!
I'm gonna do my best not to leave these things until 2 days before the event anymore. I've been going through a lot of life changes recently and I really do want to be more punctual and on top of stuff like this. So again, if you have some spare room for RTX, please please PLEASE let me know. Thanks a bunch y'all, I love you guys.
PAX East, m'kay?I'll keep this short and to the point. I still need a place to stay for PAX East in 2 weeks. If you're going to PAX East and have some spare room where you're staying, pleeeeease consider letting me stay with you. I can pay for part of the room, and I'll even sleep on the floor if need be.
Featured User? Hey alrightSo today's my Featured User day! Always wanted to be featured user without giving it any effort whatsoever.
First, I'd like to thank the academy...
No but really, thanks Rooster Teeth for recognizing me today. I've always loved and supported the hell out of this community and I'll continue to do so for as long as I can. Thanks everyone for stopping by my profile to check me out! (Oh you know I like it when you check me out )
A Big DayToday marks the beginning of my second pilgrimage to the great land of Australia. As we speak, I'm in the LA airport with a 3 hour layover, waiting to get on the 15 hour plane ride of Sydney. Needless to say, I'm giga-excited about this trip, and I can't wait to hang out with all the Aussies and have some fun. Special thanks goes to @coolcaiti for graciously inviting me into her home whilst in Sydney, and @indiefaerie (maybe?) for my time in Melbourne. If you live in Sydney, or the Sydney area, or are coming to the Sydney ARTST gathering in a few days, then you have the opportunity to see MEEE!!!
So a few things detailing the last couple weeks. I participated in the Extra Life 24 hour gaming marathon, and did a live stream of the event, and thanks to the generosity of those who donated, I ended up raising almost $400 for my local hospital! Words cannot describe how awesome this makes you all, even if you just showed up to watch the stream, I can't thank you enough for supporting me. Some highlights of the stream were beating Banjo-Kazooie (My favorite game OF ALL TIME) in 4 hours and 22 minutes, managing to play Through the Fire and Flames with 4 stars on hard, completely failing with my audio issues resulting in me playing over 2 hours of Team Fortress 2 with no recorded sound, and spending almost 2 hours trying to fix said audio issues so I could stream me playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Don't worry your pretty little head, because a Let's Play of Amnesia is on its way! You'll get to watch me piss myself, IN VIDEO FORM!
Now, on to the second point of business, video games. I know right, totally didn't see that one coming. Assassin's Creed III came out today, which I attended the midnight release for, and got some interesting moments out of. We had some redneck dudes gush over and then proceed to watch Rage Quit on one of their iPhones, had a police officer stop and ask what the line was for, and then proceed to get of his car and wait in line himself, and we even had a green masked luchador waiting in line, with a full belt and everything. So yeah... Interesting group of people. Oh, Assassin's Creed III? YEAH IT'S AWESOME. WHY DO YOU EVEN ASK. Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 will be awesome too!
And finally, the big one: I'M COMING DOWN TO AUSTRALIA!!!! You read that right, I'm finally coming back down to Aussieland after over a year! Dates aren't set in stone yet, but it's almost definitely going to be around December 15th and last for at least 10 days. I'll be staying in Sydney with the lovely @coolcaiti , so if you wanna give me a hug, you'll just have to visit Sydney now won'tcha!
I'm also planning a HUGE announcement that I'm not prepared to talk about just yet. No hints, just know that you will be jealous. You will be. :3
Oh and also I turned 19 on the 22nd. And my parents gave me money so I could get a new keyboard! That was nice of them.
So yeah, that's what's been going on in my life. Hopefully life will continue to be awesome!
New name!Nope, not an RTX or RvBTO journal yet. Those require a lot of time and typing, neither of which I have today. I just wanted to make a quick journal telling people that I have a new name on the site: Hunter!
This was a long time coming, I was never satisfied with the arbitrary "MH" stapled to the end of my name. For those of you who don't know (everyone), the MH was a tribute to an old website I used called Modhalo.net, where I was very much involved in the community there. For a time I was both into Rooster Teeth and Mod Halo, so I figured since TheSlayer was taken on this site, I would go with the next best thing: TheSlayerMH. I've since moved on from Modhalo, and I felt the subtitle had to go. I debated for a long time whether to go with Slayer or Hunter, and Hunter won out. You know, being my name and all.
So don't worry about me getting rid of The Slayer moniker. I'm still very much the Slayer you all have come to know and love, and you can totally still call me Slayer if you want. I just felt that Hunter would be a fitting name for me when I finally get off my lazy ass and start making some Community Hunter videos. That way, I will be, literally, the Achievement... Hunter. GET IT!? HAHAHA!
