Miles Morales...Spider-Man has been an influence in my life since before I even learned to read.

To this day "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" is one of my all time favorite cartoons. The Amazing Spider-Man #346 was the first comicbook I picked up in my mid teens & I kept picking them up for many years after. As of a few years ago things got financially tight and I had to stop getting comicbooks.

I kept track of things as best I could through Wikipedia and lately Twitter. I had known about Ultimate Spidey dying and seen the teases about the new one on the way.

So when I read about the new Ultimate Spidey today I can honestly say, I was excited. I believe it was a really gutsy move on Marvel's part to kill Peter Parker when they did and put in someone new now. I think this will prove to be a very exciting change.

I am cool with it, b/c it is a completely separate universe, that has built to this moment with good stories and a reasonable development.

I still like Peter Parker, and always will, but you got to admit, it was far more likely that he would have died defending another at some point in his career...Ultimate Verse just followed that threw to its natural conclusion, and has moved on.

I am also excited by the new Spidey not being white. To many white heroes out there for the percentage of the planets population.

Yeah I really think that the freedom from continuity afforded by the Ultimate universe has really come through especially now.
