Call of Duty vs. BattlefieldHey everyone, so I was sitting around procrastinating from writing a physics paper when I thought to myself "you know what I should do right now, stir up a hornet's nest by writing a journal entry about Call of Duty and Battlefield."

So here we are, I'm going to single handedly dictate to you which game is better. Actually I'm just going to tell you my opinion and compare some facts, I really don't care if you agree because both games are great so it's kinda stupid to pick a side and refuse to give the other any credit.

Anyway, I feel I should point out that I am a long time Call of Duty player and have only recently started playing Battlefield games. I believe Big Red One was the earliest Call of Duty game I played and Bad Company 2 for Battlefield. So ardent Battlefield fans bare with me. Another important fact is that I play games for the campaign, I never play online before beating the campaign so story line and campaign game play with be the main focus of this journal entry, but don't worry I'll talk about multiplayer in depth as well.

First I'm going to talk about Call of Duty, I don't really remember Big Red One that well (I was like eight) so I'm going to start with Call of Duty 3. Quite simply, incredible. In my opinion the best Call of Duty game to date. Some of my friends say that it sucked (don't know what they're smoking), but others agree with me. Arguments against this game is that it's campaign was too confusing; I have to disagree, I loved how the campaign had you play as five, or was it six, different people. That's what WWII was, it wasn't just the Russians and Americans, it was the English, Polish, and French along with many others. It also gave the game a feeling of importance, like you were shaping every part of the war. The last level where your one character successfully routes the Germans only to have them fall back to fight your other character, Nichols I believe, in a desperate defense was incredible. Not to mention the hand to hand combat sequences were intense as hell.
Let's move on, Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Again, amazing. Obviously this was the first time online played a key role and it was very well done; the maps were good the game play was even and smooth and the ranking system kept you coming back for more. Sure the campaign could have been better, but it was still exciting and although I was sad to see them cut back to only two story lines, it was a solid game. I have a question though, why take out the hand to hand combat? Why make the game shorter? I don't know the answer to these questions, but I would guess it had to do with spending more time on multiplayer. (Still editing)
