KONY 2012It really surprises me that with so many people on this website there are not too many concerned about this. And I know that I am not the best person to be posting this here because of my lack of popularity, but this NEEDS to be said.
A man who is considered the worlds worst criminal terrorist named Joseph Kony has over just a few nights become an internet anti-celebrity. With over 30 million people who have seen the thirty minute video it wouldn't surprise me if nobody here has not seen this yet.
Kony, if you need a little back ground information, is a man who has been terrorizing Uganda in Africa for nearly over 25 years now. The man has not been using normal rebel forces to fight this war, and in fact he has recently been cornered.
As everyone should know, this man has been corrupting the minds of children and "brainwashing" them to fight for him in a child only army of nearly 30 thousand soldiers. This strategy is of course very problematic because, not many people want to fight against kids in a war, no matter how serious their crimes may be.
The good news is? He is in a problematic bind, and he does not have much else to hide. The United States government, to no ones surprise has declined any action against Kony, but we did send a few hundred troops to help the Ugandan's army put down the rebellion.
The problem? money, as every issue is.
I'm not forcing this on anyone, but we must think of our future and standing for something larger than ourselves. This man has been at large for TWENTY YEARS NOW. And if this had in any way directly affected the U.S. then this would have been much larger and may have been ended a long time ago.
TL;DR I'm not asking people to donate or sign, all I'm asking is for you to watch the video and understand what exactly this "KONY 2012" thing that exploded on the internet in the last few days is. The video explains it all and should give you all information regarding the terrorist Joseph Kony.
Now, as far as my popularity goes, I'm not very popular on this website. I'm asking you guys to get this out a bit more. If you want to post a journal and link to this one so you don't have to explain it all out that's fine. But, this cause is something more than we as gamers/nerds/RTer's should be concerned about, this affects the whole world.
