Grigori RasputinI know it's been a while since Past Cast has done another video, but I just thought of the best idea for a new one. I was sitting in my Western Civilization class and we were talking about the Russian Revolution and that's when we came by this man named Grigori Rasputin. Later after the lecture, it occurred to me: Geoff should play as this guy.

For those of you who never heard of Grigori Rasputin, I recommend looking him up on Google. He is quite entertaining to read about. But allow me to fill you in on some of the details.

Grigori Rasputin was a peasant born in 1869. He became a holy man at the age of eighteen. He would go on pilgrimages constantly. He was, unfortunately, a heavy drinker, a sex addict, and he never bathed. He also clearly didn’t shaved either. Despite this image that looks like he raping you though the photo, he always has that look that seduced a lot of people under his spell.

By 1908, Rasputin wonders in the palace of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Aleksandra. Alexis, their son and heir to the throne, was suffering from hemophilia. Rasputin somehow convinced the tsar and tsarist that he is a healer and he could cure their son from his disease. After that, he became Nicholas’s most trusted individual and Aleksandra’s personal adviser. For many years he would give “healing sermons” to other people, some were considered sexually suggestive. Often times, he would have sex with women of the wealthy class while their husbands stood aside.

During World War I, things were not looking good for the Russian army. Tsar Nicholas II thought that he would raise spirits and moral by leading his troops in the front lines. While he was away he left Rasputin in charge. Some did not take kindly to that.

How Rasputin was murdered is (in my opinion) one of the craziest stories ever read. On December 16, 1916, his conspirators invited him to a party at the Yusupov palace. The party was in the basement of the palace. One the conspirators offered him a glass of wine that had been poisoned. He takes the wine and chugs down the whole glass. Hours have passed and he’s still standing. The conspirators were puzzled, but then the same person who offered the wine finally takes a pistol and shoots Rasputin. Rasputin falls over and they thought they succeeded. But later, Rasputin gets back up walks towards the man who shot him and starts strangling him. The man manages to break free and Rasputin makes a run for it in the palace courtyard. One of the other conspirators goes chasing after him with his pistol. Fires two rounds: both missed. Fires two more rounds and strikes him in the back and the head. Rasputin goes down cold, and they took his body back inside. The man who was nearly strangled to death starts to get enraged, takes a blunt instrument and beats the shit out of his body. Finally, they took his body and dump him in a river. On December 19, the body was found and an autopsy was done on it.

Do you know what they confirmed his death was from? DROWNING!

So despite being poisoned, shot three times (one in the gut, another through the kidneys, the last one in the head), and then beaten to a bloody pulp; he was still alive even when he hit the water.

Well, don’t you think that suits Geoff well in a new Past Cast video? If you don’t think so……………...... go fuck yourself.
