Amusing musings about sexism toward menPossibly only amusing to me, but I have to laugh every time I hear a female comic, (or any female really) comment on the fact that women will go as far as surgical procedures done to alter their appearance, yet men don't. And this is passed off as being the man's fault, or pressure from men to do so.

Not true. Media and "Women's" Magazines propagate the perfect female image.

I don't think I've ever had a conversation with a male friend or stranger that came to the conclusion, "she'd be worth dating if she had implants." While if she does have a nice chest that is simply one of her (many) good features, along with, she's funny, she's fun to hang out with. It's not anything I've ever heard that "needs" to be altered.

On the flip side of this, it's brought up that men never need to get ball enlargements and penis lengthening procedures.

Are you saying that if these procedures actually existed men wouldn't line up around the block to get them? The point is, they don't (effective ones anyway). If they did, and every tv show and magazine told us it's what women want, you couldn't stop the hordes of men (even men who are well endowed) from having it done. So... is that women's fault men had that done. No, the female population would shake their heads and say, "Silly insecure men" and dismiss it.

When women have surgery to alter themselves they aren't doing it at gun point. They're doing it because either they personally want it done, or feel it will improve them in the eyes of men somehow. I'm not condoning either, but it's as much her choice to have the implants as it is to have an abortion. No one can say it's morally wrong when it hurts no one in the act of doing it (That's arguable with abortion I guess, but we're talking about what a women chooses to do with her body).

And yet we need to find someone to blame for this. And it invariably always falls on men. I like funny girls, but if there were a brain implant that involved installing the comedic timing and wit of my favorite actor, I wouldn't suggest she get it done, but if every magazine tomorrow decided that's what, I as a male, look for in a woman by way of polls and consensus, she made that choice to get that implant.

And to you ladies, if there's ever this man you're with who demands YOU change something or alter something about you because you're not "good enough", then guess what? When you go cut on yourself, alter yourself in ways that make you uncomfortable. You're the one with awful taste in men. You're allowing him to victimize you. You're the one to blame. Take some goddamn responsibility and stop blaming men for making you feel insecure. Because guess what, everyone feels insecure. Even men. Get use to it or shut the fuck up.

I second that as a woman! :p

it seems now that all the sexism and racism is pointed towards white heterosexual males, as all the others seem to get upset if they are ever portrayed by even ONE character as having a bad quality or flaw in movies, games and probably books as well, but not if it is a white heterosexual male

it is frustrating!

I have never spoken to you before, but you have perfectly summed up my thoughts. I am forced to conclude you Xeroxed my brain, but since you use it for good rather than evil, I will allow it.

Strangely enough, this is unrelated to that entirely.
