Personal Journal #3So this may not be 3 personal journals in a row (darn that Goosechecka and her awesome research), it's still the third personal journal and YOU WILL LOVE IT!! (Yes, that was a threat.)
For those who follow Achievement Hunter closely, you already know I lost my voice this week and had to move a playdate because of that. The cause of my voice loss, was yelling at coaching all of these chumps:
Those chumps are 14 of the 16 members (myself as well) of Bananamonium, the Ultimate (Frisbee) team from San Jose State University. This photo was taken last weekend in Tracy, California where we participated in the Conference Championships (part of the USA Ultimate College Series) to try and earn a spot to Regionals (where we would compete for a spot at Nationals).
While Bananamonium didn't qualify for Regionals, I am beyond proud to say that I was this coach this year! 10 of the 14 pictured players had little to no experience playing ultimate until a few months ago and they all played their hearts out. Without getting into the technical talk of the sport, I just have to say they were playing way better than I could have ever expected when I first started coaching in the fall. For those curious, we played 10th out of 12 teams (played to seed)! This is incredible because we beet two teams who had far more experienced players.
Coaching the team this year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Seeing all of these players grow individually and as a team was nothing short of incredible and the friendships we all forged are irreplaceable. I'm gonna miss these guys a ton next year!
P.S. Sorry this journal was so long. It's cool though, I know you all just skimmed it and looked at the pictures.

How did you lose your voice again?
You guys looked awesome
Winning over 2 of the more experienced teams is definitely praise worthy for such a young (Ultimate-Frisbee experience wise) team! Your team must have played with heart.
You all look like you know how to have fun. Those are some great pics
