I don’t know how I could ever express in words just how much emotion has gone into the past 5 years of my life. Have you ever been asked the question in a job interview, “Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?” How do you answer that in any meaningful way to some stuffed shirt behind a desk? Instead of considering what might be, let’s consider what was.
5 Years ago today I devoted my life to an incredible women. We bought a house and enjoyed living our lives the way that we wanted to. After 2 years of marriage we made the second biggest decision in our lives, we decided to become parents. We welcomed David into the world with excitement, pride, fear, joy and so much more. Watching him grow day by day has been an incredible experience; as I’m sure those of you with kids know very well. It has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day it’s always worth it.
When David was 2 we made the decision again to expand our family. My wife really wanted a little girl. She was fine with having another boy, but I guess most parents are like that, fathers want a little boy and mothers want a little girl. The date for the ultrasound came and we found out that we were having another little boy. We decided to name him R.J. (Raymond James). Named after myself and her Grandfather, who passed away this year. R.J. is due in about 2 months time and it is really starting to get exciting for us.
Where do I see myself in the next 5 years? I don’t know, but I’m going to enjoy every damn minute of it.
