Puerto Rico and Week long tripsAnd now for a more positive journal providing helpful tips to any and all who are traveling overseas or are considering week long trips.
First I would like to say Puerto Rico is a very nice island but needless to say a bit poor. While I wouldn't say it's as poor as Haitii, it clearly isn't exactly that rich. Probably around the level of India and/ or Mexico. Also it is worth nothing that apparently America's interest in the island goes as far as the airport and that's it. Theres little American involvement in the island which is why you will see how most of it is still Spanish even though America waves its flag over the island. I personally think America should stop wasting money on it's military and instead help its 'territories' like Puerto Rico.
Moving along
apparently the island is almost like Ronnaponour in Black Lagoon or like Afterlife in Mass Effect or like Israel in real life but with much more crime. I rarely noticed any of this but apparently nearly every single person in the island has a gun and will have no problem getting out of their cars and shooting you if you piss them off. Also the island must have a large crime rate since most houses on the island are barred up with fences, iron bars, and sometimes barbed wire. Never thought i'd see an entire development with as much protection and security as a prison. I think Walking Dead would have a freaking fangasm here since its the perfect sanctuary against zombies
regardless the people can be very nice. The beaches are of course beautiful and while it can rain a lot there, sometimes for entire weeks, it is a very beautiful island. The food consists of various different things but to be honest 85% to 90% of it is just the many different foods they can make from bananas (and yet I was amazed how out of the hundreds of banana products they make, theres not one banana bread)
For me and my family we went to the rainforest, El Muero fort and Old San Juan shopping, jet skiying, and just relaxing. The fort was very impressive and cool. While I wouldn';t say it stands up against any English forts or hell not even against American forts, it was still impressive. I think the people here can be kinda sticklers with shopping, even more than America.
Honestly id recommend if your going to a Spanish speaking area for shopping then go to Mexico because Puerto Rico will often charge outrageous amounts of prices for the simplest of things while Mexico is very fair and will negotiate its prices
(i'd also recommend not gambling in Puerto rico or they will rob you blinde since they constantly rig the cards but I've already ranted a lot about this)
the rainforest is very beautiful but besides from it being tropical I don't see what makes it a rainforest. I mean England and Ireland have forests and it rains constantly over there, why aren't those forests rainforests? I don't know but then again i'm not an ecologist. You drive your car through it going all up the mountain and again its really awesome. Tons of rain and water but yes awesome
overall Puerto Rico is a very nice island but I would recommend not living there no matter what ethnicity you are. Hell it could be said white people are treated better in Puerto Rico than native Puerto Ricans since white people are seen as just giant walking rolls of cash while native Puerto Ricans are seen as opposition
As for week long tripsIF you are going with a significant other loved one or if you are going with your spouse and your very young children as a family trip then yes it can be a lot of fun. However if you are older and lets say a older teen. Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT go on a week long trip no matter how good the deal is. Red Dwarf makes a joke about shoving a group of men in a single room and how they can't even last for a few days. The same applies here. When you are stuck in a single one boxed in room with a group of people for an entire week, you will have no privacy. No space, no room to breath. People always constantly in your face. Its what caused most of the fighting and tensions my family had with each other this week so just think very Very VERY carefully if ur even considering a single boxed in room for an entire week.
