The music industry screws up(yet again)How many of you out there have ever seen the classic show WKRP in Cincinnatti? By the number of raised hands I see, it's a considerable lot. How many remember the turkey drop scene and Arthut Carlson's now famous line "As GOD is my withness, I thought turkeys could fly"? Now that I have those nostalgic happy memories invoked, let's try to imagine this classic show gutted, with entire scenes, and songs removed due to the unfair and unrealistic cost of music licensing. WKRP was as much about the music as it was about the eccentric staff at the station, and therein lies the problem. The incredibly greedy bastards in the recording industry, and this time I am referring to music publishers, not the artists, have decided that a song for even just 2 seconds of airplay should cost anywhere from $1500 to $45,000. Excuse me but what the fuck is that bullshit about? I think that after all of the money that is made on some of these songs, the licensing costs shouls be about $15 to $40 at most. This bloated unnecessary bullshit by the greedy fatcats in LA LA Land is just another example of how useless Hollywood and the music industry have become. That's why I download music. Because until things change and music becomes more affordable and more freely available without this overpriced nonsense, I will not buy anything from the music shithole. And that's sad because some of my favorite tv shows from the past will never come out either at all or as I remember them, because of one word: GREED. So, as I mourn the death of WKRP on DVD, I am currently downloading the shows uncut from the net. So FUCK the Recording Industry and the Publishers who gouge us so much.
