bored enough to write a STORYthis is all i have so far.....
In 2447, Britain had tightened her grip on the commonwealth. She moved to hold with an iron fist the commonwealth and most surrounding territories: The fierce spirit of the Irish is crushed by the overwhelming influx of air, land, and of course: sea power, out of Canada pour troops and so were the border states taken by the Brits. Out of Australia and New Zealand came planes, and Indonesia, India, and Burma were taken. Out of all came the ships, the naval might of Britain never to be questioned, and the seas were unfit for travel if you were not British or British sponsored. However, this was all that the public knew. One Cmndr. Joseph Blake however, was aware of another, much more important event. From the island of Antigua, the higher-ups had sent piece after piece of prefabricated material into space. For what purpose, Cmndr. Blake had not known, from his modest command post aboard the Keppel-class frigate Churchill just off of Antigua. During this period of time, in orbit around Earth, were built the four mightiest ships ever created. In the shipyards launched to orbit in pieces, bourn on huge rockets, were conceptualized, designed, and built, the first military spacecraft in human history. Unlike the huge nuclear-powered aircraft carriers of Britain’s surface fleet, these were a throwback to the ancient ships-of-the-line of the eighteenth century. Each armed with powerful Magnetic Accelerator Capacitor cannons, and weighing over 900 000 tons, these ships awed all who looked upon them. Gone was the ancient British tradition of having a class of ships each have the same first letter as the lead ship’s name. They were named for the greatest ships ever produced by British or Scottish shipyards: HMS Dreadnought, HMS Rodney, HMS Queen Elizabeth, and finally, HMS Sovereign. With such a force, Britain’s hold on the world was unquestioned. Until now.
The Year is 2459…
Six months ago the HMS Rodney rounded the moon on a routine patrol. All we have left is one data cylinder and a whole lot of scrap metal. Lucky for us, the data cylinder contains the last hours of the Rodney’s existence on a high-definition holographic image recording. In short, the Rodney was attacked and destroyed by three ships of possibly unknown origin. These vessels were smaller than the Rodney, perhaps half the size. And though the Rodney managed to hit one, it limped away under its own power, while its companions cut the Rodney to pieces with high intensity lasers. Just before the recording ends, we have a glimpse of the port bow of one of the ships crossing the camera. Splashed in bold white lettering across it, are the words USS Ronald Reagan. This is the hottest topic in the shipyard/gun battery Gibraltar at the moment… I, Captain Joseph Blake, of the Royal Navy, am solely responsible for the lives of over 1000 men. I am captain of the HMS Sovereign, in my opinion, one of the finest ships in the Royal Navy. Unfortunately, the estimates I was told about my vessels lifetime are apparently off. I was informed, when given command of this fine ship, that she would be obsolete within twenty years. Now, five years after entering service, it is apparent that someone has already outmatched us in space warfare. Whether by a trick of fate or blind luck, the tests for a new, and even more revolutionary class of warship are in the final phases. Soon we shall have a true space borne navy! I have recently been allowed access to the plans for these mighty vessels, and they put the entire Dreadnought-class to shame. These ships, designated the Revenge-class, will make my once-mighty vessel look like a mere cruiser. The HMS Revenge is to be armored with six metres of Titanium-A, carry seventeen high caliber MAC cannons to each broadside and sixteen mounted in turrets both above and below the main hull. Each MAC shall be able to fire a 5000 ton ferrous tungsten shell at four-tenths light speed, one every minute or so. She is to be powered by six PWR-117 reactors, and will herself, be able to cruise at 1 tenth light speed. There are to be more ships of the Revenge-class than there were of the Dreadnought-class. A total of eight: HMS Revenge, HMS Retaliation, HMS Redoubtable, HMS Remarkable, HMS Resistance, HMS Renown, HMS Resolution and HMS Repulse. They shall have the most advanced sensors available to us at the moment. I am deeply troubled by the actions of the US in this matter, as they were not known to possess spacecraft at all, let alone military vessels of this caliber. I strongly believe that the Rodney should be avenged, and I long to be chosen to head the battle group that will find and destroy the base from which they are operating.
